HE angual Rotarian fete night for
Rotary ladies at the Coosa (ountry
Club was a brillant success, excelling
#ll previous occasions because of the dis
tinguished guests present and the wel
comed young aviator guests of the eclub,
Benator Hoke Smith and General Cameron,
/who were in Rome to take part in the big
Victory Loan celebration on Memorial Day,
arrived in the city Friday evening in time
to be the Rotary Club's honored guests.
Lieutenant Devein, R. F. (. of England,
by birth a Canadian and olp of the Cana
dian aces, was the guest of*Captain Mark
Cooper, who has just reached home from
France, and the presence of the ace added
a pleasant feature to the occasion, Rome's
own avators, Andrew Cooper and James
D’Arey, the young flyer who made such a
daring “dip” at President -Wilson, as he
#toodl on the deck of the George Washing
ton, were also weltomed guests. A num
ber of specchies were made, both Senator
Smith and General Cameron responding
when their names were called, then quite
o few stunts held an inviolate secrecy
until sprung upon the unsuspecting guests
added mirth to the dinner party,
The pretty home wedding Wednesday at
6 o’clock which united Miss Addie Sue
Young and William Wimberly was of wide
interest. Only members of the two fam
illes and a few intimiate friends were pres
ent in the little home attractive with pro
fuse decorations of white roses and ferns.
The Rev. T. R. Kendull, Jr,, performed the
impressive ring ceremony and the Nixon
Orchestra played a program of choice mu
sic before and after the ceremony. The
bride wore a becoming coat suit of blue
with hat, gloves and shoes in tan. Her
flowers were a corsage of bride roses and
lilies of the valley. Mr. and Mrs. Wim
berly left on the northbound Southern for
a brief trip and when they return will
take up their abode in their attractive lit
tle bungalow in East Rome. 5
Mrs. Burnett Norton left Monday for
Washington to spend a month with her
cousin, Mrs Cardem Warner, Mrs. Henry
Norton came down from Nashville to be
with Mr. Norton nmle";e children.
Mrs. Will Graves ertained informally
for her young and attractive guest Miss
Evelyn Dusenberry, of Macon, and on Wed
nesday the Hope Chest Club tendered Miss
Dusenbury and Mrs. Malcolm McDermott,
of Knoxville, both of whom are ex-mem
berg of the club and resigned from the
popular twelve only because of a change of
residence, a delightful bridge at the Coosa
Country Club,
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Miller, Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Lindsey motored to Atlanta, for the
first night of grand opera. Mrs. Rohert
Graves, Mrs. B. I. Hughes and Miss Helen
McLin were in another parnty that went
down Tuesdny. Mrs. Lella Hill Wright

distinguished singers,
The golfers of Rome entertained the vis
iting golfers from Anniston Tuesday when
& match game was played at an elegant
luncheon in the club house. The guests
numbering ten motored over from Annis
ton and the play was for 38 holes, with
the hosts victorious. The visitors have
challenged the Romans for a return mateh
on their home links in May, and according
to precedent, the home team will win on
the home links, so it will always remain
tifty-rifty.

at which he was assisted by Mrs. William

two of the high school teachers. The
