The marriage of Miss Jessie Deal and
Charles Phelelon, of Salt Lake City, took
place at the Episcopal Church Thursday
evening. Miss Deal is the daughter of
the Rev. and Mrs. Deal. Bishop Mikell,
assisted by Dr. Merlinjones, performed
the ceremony.
Miss Willie Bell Jackson entertained her
sewing club Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. James Merrit were hosts
to the Thursday Evening Club the past
week. Mrs. E. M. Moore had charge of
the program, giving an interesting essay
on “Social Influences in English Litera
ture.” Will Hosch led the discussion of
current events.
The friends of Albert Green were in
terested in the announcement of his en
gngomont to Miss NJuula Barnett, of Moss
oint, Miss,, the wedding to take place
June 26.

The Willlam Candler Chapter, D. A. R.,
met Saturday afternoon with Mrs. D. W.

Charters gave an interesting talk on the
origin of plays and Mrs. E' B. Michaelis
gave several piano selections.
The wedding of Miss Jene Peterman,
of Dothan, Ala.,, and A. L. Espy, of Cor
dele, took place in Brenau Auditoriurh on
June 4. Miss Peterman is a former stu
dent at Brenau and is known in Gaines
ville, where she has been the guest of'

was that of Miss Lucile Norris,
of Cochran, to Fred Roswell Bennett,
of Eastman, which took place Wednes
day evening at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Norris,
the ceremony behllg performed by the
Rev. J. P. Dell. he btide was given
in marriage by her father, T. A, Nor
ris. Eugene Hackett, of Darien, was
best man, Mayor J. C. Urquhart sang,
“One Fleeting Hour.” Mrs. Raymund
Edwards and Mrs. H. N. Freeman gave
a musicnl program preceding the cere
mony, playing the wedding ‘march as
the bride entered. Little Evelyn Nor
ris, a sister of the bride, was flower

The ceremony was followed by a re

married Sunday -evening to Lieutenant
Allen Crane, of Columbia, 8. C. The
marriage was not a surprise to friends
of the couple, The marriage was per
formed by Dr. Isaac Marcuson, of Ma
con, and was witnessed by only a few
friends of the ?Amlly. Lieutenant and
Mrs. Crane left at midnight for Chi
cago and other points of interest. They
will reside after July 1 at Columbia,
where Lieutenant Crane is stationed.

Thursday for Cordele, where they will
attend the annual conference of the
South Georgia Epworth League as rep
