“This item,” said Mr. Elyea, *had
reference to the part played by the
automobile industry in the winning

to the increased business of Bevo
distributors, who expect in the very
near future to receive a car éach day.
Bradley & Woertz, of No. 229 Simpson

Bevo,,and they report that sales are
climbing rapidly. The firm has at
the present time in transit several
carloads of Bevo for Atlanta trade.
Bradley & Woertz supply the trade
in Fulton, Campbell, DeKalb, Cobb
and part of Gwinnett Counties. They
also supply Camp Gordon, Camp
Jesup and the camp exchanges at
Jesu

large barbecues were given in and
around Atlanta. At all of these Bevo

others that used Bevo were the

of the Southeastern Fair Associtaion.

Atlanta Plant Soon
Progress toward plans for estab
lishing in Atlanta the big manu
facturing plant of the Lanham Cot
ton Cultivator-Chopper Company
made long strides last week, when
several additional business men of
hizh standing became heavily in
terested in the company, Wwhich
will manufacture the first practi
cal machine for chopping cotton
and perhaps saving many a crop
which otherwise would perish for
lack of field hands.
Among the Atlantans who have
become interested in the new en
terprise are: C. W. McClure, head
of the big chain of 10 cent stores:
Colone! F. J. Merriam, president of
the Southern Ruralist; Charles P.
Byrd, president of the Pyrd Print
ing Company; W. D. Ellis, Jr,
prominent attorney, and A. O. Bla
lock, collector of internal revenue,
Associated with the organization
for some time have been: H. G.
Hastings, president, and H. W.
Brown, vice president, of the H.
(3. Hastings Company, the big seed
house; St. Elmo Massengale, head
of the Massengale Advertising
Agency, and H. C, Bagley, of Bag
ley & Willet, an owner of several
large plantations,
The participation by these men
in the fortunes of the new com
pany gives virtual assurance that
the organization will complete its
financial affairs in a short time and
be in a position to establish its own
plant. The machines, which were
given a thorough test in several
states in the last few weeks, have
been manufactured by the Lanham
Company by a large factory devot
ed to making machinery, but the
Lanham Cotton Cultivatpr Com
pany intends ‘building their own
plant, in order to be assured of
large production and to gain the
advantage of quantity buying of
materials.
