Progress toward plans for estab

made long strides last week, when
. several additional business men of
i high standing became heavily in
~ terested in the company, which
~ will manufacture the first practi

and perhaps saving many a crop
which otherwise would perish for
lack of field hands.
Among the Atlantans who have
- bacome interested in the new en
terprise are: C. W. McClure, head
of the big chain of 10 cent stores:
Colonel F. J. Merriam, president of
the Southern Ruralist; Charles P.
Byrd, president of the Pyrd Print
ing Company; W. D. Ellis, Jr,
prominent attorney, and A. O. Bia
lock, collector of internal revenue.
Associated with the organization
for some time have been: H. G.
Hastings, president, and H. W.
Brown, vice president, of the H.
G. Hastings Company, the big seed
~ house; St. Elmo Massengale, head
of the Massgngale Advertising
Agency, and H. C. Bagley, of Bag
ley & Willet, an owner of several
large plantations,
The participation by these men
in the fortunes of the new com

the organization will complete its
financial affairs in a ghort time and
be in a position to establish its own
plant. The machines, which were
given ?, thorough test in several
states in the last few weeks, have
been manufactured by the Lanham

Lanham Cotton Cultivatpr Com

plant, in order to be assured of
large production and to gain the
advantage of quantity buying of
materials.
