Cheaper Silk Varieties Will Be
Succeeded by Good Quality
Pongees and Shantungs.
Cotton shirts will replace those of
the cheap silk variety which have
been flooding the market for the
coming fall and winter. The show
ing made in this new material will
be one of the largest ever seen In
Atjanta. The endeavor of dealers to
' supply a large demsnd with a limited
' supply has a decided tendency to re
tard the first samples of new ehirt
ings. |
Cotton fabrics for shirts of all
prices will be more conspicuons than
they have been for years, especially
those to sell at prices equaling
amounts charged for the cheap silk
shirts with which the market was
flooded this summer. i
This, however, is not intended tol
mean that the high grade silk shirt
will not hold its popularity, for it
will. Discriminatipg men who pay
a price know there is no economy in
inferior grades of merchandise, there.
fore the best grades of silk shirts will
~ continue to find favor at even ad
vanced prices. Plain colors, fine hair.
. line stripes and pencil stripes with
i eollars to match are being shown now
and will be very popular for both
_fall and early spring.
PONGEES POPULAR.
The pongee or Shantung nhlrm‘
have had such a good run this sum
“ mer that they may be considered
commonplace by the fastidious
dressers and probably will be classed
among the popular priced and cheap
er lines.
New ideas of designs are numer
ous, and as the improvement in qual
ity of materials is assured, there will
be something to show for the slight
advance to be noted in the prices of
the new shirts.
With the pure wool products from
Scotland again making their appear
ance on the market, the demand of
the high-class trade for something
different in top sport and motor coats
. ard sweaters will ‘be filled. How

One of the Intest snit models fer fall,
with the populir three-quarter length

btitton trimmings are nsed in a very novel
manner. This suit was the creation of
one of New York's foremost designers

through its graceful lines and its ser

Georgian-American artist,
firms catering to the highest priced
trade can carry them in stock.
BROWN SPORT COATS,
In the line of sport and motorl
coats, brown is being featured for
this season, with gray running a
close second. Motor wraps are being
made In colors to harmonize with the
coats, but a number in purple,
gray and white are being shown at
some of the more exclusive shops.
The sleeveless ‘waistcoat is another
item of men's wear that is likely to
prove extremely popular this next
season, It is being made in a num
bter of colors, with combinations of
brown, gray and white; copen, citron
and white, and tan lilac and white
predominating,
Ostrich leather novelties in men's
occessories are being offered for fail
and winter, These articles are made
out of the natural skin of the bird,
and the raised spots are formed
where the quill was pulled out of the
back. The underskin is naturally
wrinkled, and the skins are of a tan
color, whiie the raised spots are
brown. A beautifully harmonizing
contrast is obtained with the gold
r.ountings. This also is dyed black,
but it lacks the smart appearance so
predominant n the tan,
DRESSING CASES.
Dressing cuses are being made
with this leather in such manner that

In cases of this kind there are a to

other novelties are being made tron\l
this leather, and the prospects are
they will prove exceedingly popular

The displays of neckwear for fall

seen in Atlanta for many years, The
broad tie-scarf remains in favor, but
the demand for bow ties is heavy and
many munumctum.rs have specialized
in this line. While the cost of ties
has made somewhat of an advance

this is more than offset by the het-}
