ATONTON.—On Wednesday after=
noon Mise May Adams was hostess
to the Bohemians in honor of Mrs.
Guy Marchman of Atlanta, and Mrs Cal
houn Adams of Dayton, Ohio. Progressive
rook was the motif of entertaining the
guests, the prizes being won by Mrs. John
D. Watterson and Mrs. Robert Jenkins.
After the game a salad course and an
ice was served. Assisting the hostess In
serving and entertaining were Mrs. John
Watterson, Miss Frances Watterson and
Mrs. F. F. Middlebrooks. ,
Thursday afternoon Miss Agnes Lever
‘rttr entertained the Bohemians in honor
of Miss Evelyn Griffith, a bride-elect.
Progressive rook was the game of the
afternoon, the prizes being won by Mrs.
Aubrey Williford and Miss Woodliffe
Seott. After the game an lee course and
cake was served, Those present were

One of the loveliest parties given in
honor of the Bohemians for Miss Evelyn
Griffith was that given on Friday aft
crnoon by Mrs. Frank Stubbs, who gave
the honoree a miscellaneous shower at
her home. The whole lower floor was
beautifully decorated for the occasion with
cut flowers and ferns. Each guest as ’hn
arrived wrote her name and a wish for
the bride in the bride's book, which was
presided over hy Miss Julia Belle Dennis.
As n moti? of emntertaining, each of the
guests tried her luck fishing in the “‘sea
of matrimony,” each one drawing the
initialg of their future husband, and one
drawing spinster. The bride was the last
to try her luck and drew up on her hook
and line a large white ship, laden with
pretty and dainty gifts. After this, a
salad course, cake and ices frozen in the
shapes of wedding bells were served.
Misses leila. Rainey and Julia Belle Den
nis served punch during the afternoon,
assisting the hostess in serving and en
tortaimng were Mesdames Foote Bronson,
Fannie Leverette, Roy Stubbs and Mrs
Newlander. About fifty guests were pres
ent,
Miss Carri¢ Beall Maddox entertained a
number of her young friends on Thurs
day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Sam
Dance. Progressive proms was the motif
of entertaining till late in the evening,
when delightful refreshments were served.
Miss Elsie Dejarnette celebrated her
birthday on*Thursday nft’oon by having
a number of her young fends to spend
the afternoon with her at her home in
the avenue. Various games were enjoyed
and the guests reluctantly bid their hos
tess good-day after a most delightful
afternoon of fun and amusement.
Miss Emily Spivey was hostess on Mon
day evening in honor of Miss Mary Jar
man of Covington. Proms were enjoyed
on the long avenue in front, the house
being lighted with lanterns, Ices and cake
were served during the evening.
A Japanese grdan party was given by
the young peonld of the Methodist Church
on Monday afternoon, at the parsonage,
to the ladies of the church. All decor
ations were of Japanese idea, the lawn
in front of the parsonage bheing convert
ed into a Japanese garden with lanterns

Japanese program was carried out. The
hostess wore a Jap costume. During the
afternoon tea and sandwiches were servéd.
Mr. and Mrs. Gale Riley and Misses
TLouise and Virginia Riley are at home
after several weeks in North Carolina
and Tennessge. Miss Price Davis of Ma
con is the guest of Miss Cecil Ingram.
Mr. and Mrs. Howell Hearn have re
turned home from New York and other
Eastern points.
Mra. Earle Young of Macon is the guest
of Mrs. N. W. Rainey.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Newlander of

A pretty though quiet wedding taking
place in Eatonton on Wednesday after
noon was that of Miss Evelyn Bryant
Griffith and J. E. Bush of Barnesville.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev.
. W. Jones in the presence of the im
medinte family and a few intimate friends.
The: bride wore a becoming suit of navy
blue, with hat to match. Immediately
after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Rush
left for Asheville for a short stav. They
will make their home in Barnesville, Ga.
