‘Halt Strike Vote
~ MACON, Aug. 30.—That the Macon
‘rallroad shopmen will not strike and
will await the President’s efforts to
obtain a readjustment of conditions
‘was the statement made today by of
‘flcials of the local unions, follow
ing the receipt of messages from B.
M. Jewell, acting president of the
railway department of the American
Federation of Labor.
Railroad shopmen began to take
their official vote yesterday on the
question of a nation-wide strike. In
some instances, it was learned, the
strike vote has been cast cr was in
the act of being cast when the mes
sages were received halting the ac
tion.
The carmen, it wasreported, hold
ing a membership of the majority of
the workers gt the Central of Georgia
Railroad shops, voted 80 per cent in
favor of remaining at work.
The feeling was much easier and
the men were more contented in all
of the shops, union leaders asserted,
than they were a month or six weeks
ago. Many of them had been watch
ing the developments along the Pa
cific coast and had been reading of
the President’'s efforts to reduce the
high cost of living.

Plane, Being Shown
. 'The first motion pictures taken of
the rapidly moving town of Atlanta
—from the sky—are now being
shown in the Pathe layout at the
Lyric; not a very long strip, but
exciting. They were made a week
ago lagt Sunday by Carl Rown
tree, ‘of the Scenic Film Company,
~ Pathe representative in Atlanta.
| The pictures were made possible
by the advent of two army planes
V '
of the “jinny” type, which came
over from.Sogther Field, Americus,
piloted by Lieutenant K. B. Wolfe
and Lieut. A. B, McMullen, in the
| interests of army recruiting. By
; courtesy of Colonel Rader, com
’l mandant at Souther Field, and Col.
“Bill” Bailey, head of the army re
' cruiting station in Atlant, Rowntree
and Ed Brown, Georgian photog
' rapher, were taken over the city,
the former, with McMullen, mak
ing the movies, and the latter mak
ing some still shots—or as still as
can be made at seventy-five miles
an hour.
The movie pictures show Atlanta
swinging and weaving under the
camera, with a flash every now and
then of the other plane, sailing
dlong beneath. It is an interesting
game, picking out various well
known points as they rush past the
camera. The film ends with the
movie camera’s portrayal of the fa
mous “loop,” made by Rowntree,
who pluckily continued cranking the
camera while McMullen shot the
fast plane through several vertical
circles.

From the Very First Miller Tires
Have Been Backed by an Unlimited Guarant
Miller gave to the world uniform long distance
; mileage when the first Geared-to-the-Road Tire |
was built. It was then that limited mileage fig- ‘j
ures no longer counted. Because even those first _
Miller tires marked a new era in mileage stand- :
ards. Never have we altered that mileage. Every
tire is built to outrun all makers’ guarantees.
Each is made up to a standard and not down to ..
a mileage guarantee. And having set that pace, 1
Miller Geared-to-the-Road tires have kept it.
Therefore if ever a Miller |
Tire shows an imperfection ‘
either in workmanship or
materials regardless of the
mileage run, a fair and lib
eral adjustment will be
\ made.
