Junior League Will Open
Season Tuesday With Big
Driving Club Reception
"hole guidance the league girls did
\ their war work. The mothers of the
engaged girls, of the "overseas
. girls” and of the debutantes also
‘will be guests.
: Quite a considerable party this
twill be, as you can plainly see. Mrs,
!Edwin Peeples will preside as pres
yident of the league, and all sorts
‘of attractive features will interest
'ed entertain those who attend
.this, the first large fall affair of
‘the new season.

Not ‘Softly Played—
-THE bagpipes will play at the
. wedding of Cornelia Dun
swody and James Cameron on Sep
‘tember 13. Mr. Cameron, as his
,pame shows, Is of Scoteh ancestry,
.and it was his wish that the un
«usual music should be included in
sthe program for the wedding.
+ Another unusual feature of the
smusical program will be the ren
tdition of some original nuptial
‘musie, never played in public be
\fore. It was written by a friend
.oof Mrs. Ben Lee Crew, and Mrs,
, Crew obtained it for the wedding
, 0f her young friend. Perhaps a sub
+ stitute may yet be found for the
‘ Lohengrin march and that Men
:delssnhn tune,
¢ Which reminds me that a pro
s Bpective bridegroom with a sense
yof humor, in discussing selections
s which were “to be softly played by
{the bride's aunt during the cere
:mony." gald he didn't care what
.thd'y played so they didn't choose
: “Humoresque.”
+ “Now. I don't see any appropri=
‘tateness in having ‘Oh, promise me
‘that some day yon'll be mine,' ren
:dered after the promise had been
! ‘cinched’ Jong ago, but that will not
Lbother me if you like it—only, not
{ ‘Humoresque,’ if you please!"
. One could hardly blame him, at
‘that!

Druid Hills Debut—
W HEN Emily Robinson has her
debut party it will be held in
the beautiful Druid Hills home her
father has recently purchased from
Forrest Adair. Ten Yyedrs Aago,
when Druid Hills was only a dream
in the minds of the Adairs, the two
brothers chose the beautiful sites
on which they erected thelr lovely
homes, as a nucleus for the many
handsome residences which have
since made that section of the city
the most beautiful in or near At
lanta.
The Forrest Adair home has al
ways been a hospitable one, but
has never witnessed a debutante
party. The most brilllant affair
ever held there was the weddin:
ceremony of Elizabeth Adair an
Lewis Gregg, a few years ago.
Now that Mr. and Mrs. Robinson
will occupy the beautiful home, the
younger set may confidently expect
some happy times there, besides the
debut party, which is sure to be
one of the most enjoyable of the
series to be given this fall, It's
rather early to think of that won
derful marble bathing pool which
has been the scene of 80 many gay
rties during the Adair occupancy,
g“n by next summer, when Jennie
returns from Oaksmete, I'll venture
to say that the swimming pool will
furnish some greai times to the
members of the still vounger set.

Finishing Up—
DITRING thege near-fall days, the
plans for future affairs is al
most all that can be called upon
to make interesting chatter. Pirst
in importance come the brides and
the debutantes and then the girls
who are going off for a year or 8o
. at various schools, preparing them
glveu for the soclal arena when
eir time comes to enter the de
butante circle. Three of the most
attractive of the. school girl set
will be enrolled at Oaksmere, the
fashionable finishing school near
®hiladelphia, this year. Alice

- Stearns, Jennie Robinson and Wil
motine Perdue go to Oaksmere early
in September. Mary Cohen returns
to Washington and will enter Gun
ston Hall. Emmie Nixon and Sue
Bucknell are two very attractive
members of the young set whe will
be in Washington this winter, at
the National Cathedral School. Jen
nie Johnson, our prize swimmer in
the schoolgirl set, enters Vassar,
and Anne Stringfellow goes to
Randolph Macon. Dorothy Dodd
will be at Bt. Mary's in Raleigh and
in order that Winston-Salem shall
not lack at least one Atlanta rep
resentative, Alice Smith has chosen
that place,
Rebecca Harmon will go to Mary
Baldwin, A number of the girls
who are popular in this set will
remain in Atlanta, and, strange to
say, from their point of view in this
set, the stay-at-homes are the
lucky ones, “Oh, they'll get to go
to all the Tech football games and
things this winter and we'll be 'way
up there in the cold.” bewalls one
of the Oaksmere prospects. Which
would surprise Oaksmere, [ guess,
but just shows what Atlanta girls
think of Atlanta,

House Party in Honolulu.
HAZEL NELSON, who leaves
Atlanta today with her moth
er to join Colonel Nelson at Fort
Benning, declares that she expects
to have a house party for her At
lanta friends as soon as she s set
tled again—and wherever, even {f it
is in Honolulu, as seems probable
now,
Karly in her career as an Atlan- |
tan, in the days before the war, |
when Colonel Nelson was at wor
don, Hazel and Atlanta formed a
mutual admiration soclety, and of |
all the “army girls” called here by
the exigencies of army life, Miss
Nelson has easily heen the most ‘
popular. In explanation of this, I
can offer Hazel's Southern ances
try.
Although she had never lived in
the South, she has always had
Southern sympathies, and Atlanta
has served to crystallize them into ‘
an undivided loyalty to Dixie.
She has this sentiment by rights, \
too, being a great-great-grandntece
of Light Horse Harry Lee and re
lated to many Virginia families, ‘
through her mother., She is, more
over, a very charming girl ana a
talented musician, so it is no won
der that Atlanta feels quite badly
over her departure and that of the ‘
family. When Cp’l‘pnel Nelson went
to France Mrs. Nelson and Hazel
elected to stay In their Juniper
street home. In congequence there
of, Atlanta has been thelr héme for
a longer time thans “other one
place, e : |
A series of resling visits will
follow a month’sustiy at umbia
for Hazel. She g 0 first to Boston
to visit a schoofthate, Miss Silvia
Benson, daughter. ‘of the famous
landscape artist, Frank Benson,
whose pictures may be seen in the
Corcoran Art mlfl. Later she
will be a guest of Miss Char'otte
Melcher at the latter's hoine on the
Hudson. Perhaps by that time,
Colonel Nelson will bhe “settled”
and the house party will be on tap.

Weddings Begin—
The first of the fall weddings
will come within the weeks cal
endar when Elizabeth Tuller and
Dr. Perrin Nicolson Jr. are married
next Saturday at 6 o'clock. They
are to have a tableau wedding

parties this week will be given for
Miss Tulier and others will await
the return of the young couple from
a bridal trip.
Tris, as you know, is one of the
war romances, Miss Ilizabeth hav

A merry house party beginning
on the very tirst day of October
' will be entertained by Anne, and
there wall be many parties and
much entertaining before her mar

Gray Hair
’
Electrically
Restored ¥
A short time ago a woman |
came to us, desiring to have
her gray hair restored in a
hurry. We colored her hair to
answer her immediate need, |
and then began the electrical
treatments to permanently re- |
store its original color. }
By the time that one artificial ‘
coloring would have worn off
the electrical treatment had
done its good work—her hair
was permanently restored and
needed no further coloring.
Her friends were unable to de
tect either treatment.
We can restore your gray hair
just as we did hers. Private
booths for treatments.
