The Battery of Utmost Dependability,
&
Power and Service
No automobile owner can resist the revelation of the “Spike”™ Test. He knows that an amperage
which will burn steel is ample for his needs.
The only tools needed to make the test are two pliers and two 20-penny spikes. Demonstrate
this strength in your own garage. Hold one spike, with the pliers, to each terminal. Touch the free
ends of the spikes. Mac-Lar's strength will do the rest.
This Raw Strength Guaranteed for
Eighteen Months
A written pledge to this effect protects each owner.
Maec-Lar keeps this punch because of three special advantages,
combined only in this battery. (1) Extremely hard plates which
insure long life, (2) 25 per cent extra capacity for the same plate
area, and a hizher momentary discharge rate than any soft plate
battery, (3) unusual recharging efficiency.
Mac-Lar Replacement is Universal
It fits 99 per cent of the automobiles in use today. v
It replaces more than 51 combinations of other batteries.

Owners of airplanes, as well as
manufacturers and those individuals
and concerns who are building expere
imental machines, will be interested
in the announcement of the opening
of warehouses in New York and Chi=
chago for distribution of the very
highest grade of aircraft parts and.
aquipment.
This new concern, the Alrcraft Ma«-
terials and Equipment Corporation,
has completed arrangements whereby
they become distributors in the United
States of spare parts for Canadian
training planes, the machines used by
the royal air force in Canada for
training purposes and of which seve
eral hundred have been sold for com
mercial purposes throughout the
country.
A large warehouse has been leased
in New York at 1409 Bedgewick ave
nue, where a complete stock of parts
for engines, as well as airplanes, will
be kept on hand at all times, and a
plan has been worked out whereby
parts will be shipped the same day
the order is received. This is done
for the reason that these planes are
used strictly for commercial purposes
‘and owners must secure parts in the i
‘mmlmum of time as not to interfere
with their operating every day. Teo
facilitate ordering, a comprehensive
lm catalogue has been published,
in which is listed every part of the
Canadian training plane and O. X. 8§
engine, both as an individual unit and
also in the assembly in which %
belongs.
A branch warehouse has Deen |
opened in Chicago, with the executive
‘office in the Westminster Building,
mnd as soon as adequate AITANES=
ments can be made an additional
warehouse will be opened in San
Franecisco, se that owners of airplanes,
whether they live in New York or @
small town in Arizona, will be ase
sured of efficient supply service.

Car Buying Public
Demands Highly
Finished Product
“This is the age of detail in auto
mobile manufacture,” declares Frank
N. Nutt, chief engineer of the Haynes
Automobile Company, Kokomo, Ind,
“A few years ago automobile engi
neers and designers were bending all
their efforts toward the perfection of
the engine and the car's mechanism,
" The details of finish and the various
refinements of the car were second
ary. The car buying public looked
under the hood of the automobile and
if the engine was up to their expecta
tions the rest of the car was taken for
granted. 2
“Today the engine and the me
chanical features of the car—esped
‘clally of those produced by large and
recognized companies—are looked
upon by the public as having attained
a presupposed standard of perfection,
and the attention of the purchaser is
turned toward the details of construce
tion, finish, fittings and appearance,
“Beauty of line, the comfort of the
seats, the design and elegance of the
fittings, riding qualities of the car,
width of the doors, ease of operation
‘and many other details are the priw
‘mary factors today governing the purs
chaser’s choice of car.
“The Haynes Automobile Company
has taken cognizance of this trend of
thought in the minds of automobile
buyers, and for that reason Haynes
designers and artisans have concenw
trated their efforts on detalls in the
production of the new 1920 Haynes
character cars. This Is a logical con
centration because the high qualities
of the famous Haynes Light Six and
Light Twelve motors are established,
“As a result of these efforts to pers
sect the details, the Haynes company
has been able to produce the new 1920
Haynes, possessing in perfect balance
the four vital factors of car character
~beauty, strength, power and com
fort. Every detail that would appeal
to fastidious and discriminating moe
tor car buyers has been Incorporated
in these superproductions of engi
neering and artistic skill, Nothing
has been overlooked from the ex
quisite Mount Vernon pattern of the
silver fittings down to the lasting
lustrous finish of the full aluminum
body. In .every true sense of the
word the new 1920 Haynes, produced
in nine different models, 18 a charace
ter car, perfected In every minute
detall In accordance with the dee
mands of those who desire the come
forts and niceties of motor car
travel”
