r W-.TH the younger set going this
F way and that, on every train
; which leaves the city nowadays,
E things social are taking on a sober
E hue and young persons whose rest
. less feet have danced through the
E days and nights of the holiday times
. are having a chance to realize how
E tired they are. At that, few were so
tired as to look forward with any
E degree of zest to the end of dances
E and the beginning of school and
college life ‘once more,
Christmas is certainly given up
to the young in this town. Fven
those who have long since passed
the age of youth, put on its sem
. blance for the holidays and life is
one glad sweet song. Toward the
last of the week most of the college
set went around half dazed for lack
of sleep, and one young man con
fesses that at the third dance of
one day, toward the end of the
week, he grew so light headed he
could not remember who his host
ess was, and found himself thank
ing the girl who entertained him at
the tea dance for a very happy eve
ning, along toward midnight at an
l other girl’s party,
But, as I said, life was one grand
sweet song, just the same. Now
every one will get down to business
(maybe) until summer comes along
and brings this delightful college
set back home again. {

AF'I'ER the excitement of the
holiday parties every one is
quieting down for the next wed
dings, which are to come along in
due course of time. Several went
by without as much attention as
usual, during the holidays, beautiful
though they were—or unexpected,
either case being generally events
of decided interest. Even when the
orchestra failed to show up at the
wedding of Natalie Stokes and Jim
mie Hicks and one of the guests
who only knew the strain “Here
comes the bride,” picked out the
same on the piano, few, who were
not present, heard of the exciting
incident. And though the player
purposely hurried up his “Here
comes the bride” to an alarming
extent when Catherine Dickey at
tempted to march in, sedately,
thereby causing her to do a double
quick step, scarce a ripple of talk
resulted from the same. But from
now on 'twill be different, and the
brides will come into their own

Some Posteard!—
COME to think of it, one of last
week's brides really is coming
in for more attention from devoted
friends than she really cares for.
Especially on her bridal trip. You
see, when Cornelia Walker decided
to be married Sunday a week ago
she failed to invite her best friends,
Naturally there was an indignation
meeting, this being held at the
Driving Club Tuesday afternoon,
- when a lot of the debutantes went
out, ostensibly for a Christmas tea.
But some one took out a huge
placard about the size of the “For
Rent” sign you see on houses—or
used to in the old days when there
were such things as houses for rent.
On this “postcard,” nine by twelve
inches, were inscribed various mes
sages, some of good wishes and
others of reproach, the result be
ing forwarded through Uncle Sam’s
regular mail service in letters half
a foot high, to—

A New Year’s Bride—
NOW Virginia Collier is not go
ing to have her friends meet
and plan revenge on her for not
having a real wedding and inviting
them all to the ceremony. She is
going to do just this: Virginia has
planned an elaborate and beautiful
caremony, with lots of bridesmaids
and everything that goes to make a
brilliant wedding. The young bride
elect has planned it all herself and
she is to have a bridal party of un
usuai charm. In the first place, all
the girls are young and pretty, and
in the second, they are each to
wear a different color, the colors to
blend into a harmonious whole.
There will be a girl in rose and a
girl in pink, a girl in pale yellow
and a gir] in gold, a girl in ceil blue
and another in French blue—a reg
ular garden of girls,
The groomsmen will all be Se

bridegroom having attended that
college, where he was & 4{amous
football star.
