gave a New Year's ball Wed
nesday evening at the Coosa Coun
ty Club. Invited to be chaperons

the Woodmen Hall.

officer of Souther Field, Americus,
whose approaching marriage January
17, is of wide interest, were honored

o'clock dinner given by Miss Moore s

at an informal luncneon at which
Mr. and Mrs. James Maddox enter
tained. Mrs. C. Hardy and Miss Ca

twelve. Miss Moore was honored

her by the Kiwanis Club at the beau

The announcement of the marriage
of Miss Irene Thompson and Oscar
Warrick McConnell at Miami, Fla.,
December 23, is of cordial interest in
Rome.
Bradford White and Joy Shackelton
entertained their young friends with
a large party Tuesday afternoon in
the Woman’s Club rooms. The deco
rations were of pine and many games
were enjoyed by the little people.
Miss FEthel Stiles entertained at
bridge at her home, Edgewood Farm,
Wednesday afternoon. Her guests
included members of the school set.

THE marriage of Miss Mary Emily Pope
and Jo Frank Nesmith on the the
evening of December 22, at the home
of the bride’s brother and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar Bowen, was one of the most
beautiful events of the season.
Miss Josie Golden was maid of honor
and Misses Katie Ruth Pickett, Phosa Dur
den and Bessie Nesmith, were bridesmaids,
Perry McCranie, Albert Pope and Walter
Stevens were groomsmen, and Mr. Carden
of Atlanta was best man Sara Julia
Bowen and Berma Baker were flower
