FULTON FOUNDRY AND MACHINE WORKS
Owned and Operated by the Engineering Department of
N. P. PRATT LABORATORY
ATLANTA, GEORGIA,
- Situated On Georgia Railroad At Kirkwood -
Directly on the main line of the Georgia railroad at Kirkwood, just east of the
city limits anil on both of the Decatur electric car lines, has just been completed one
of the most important of Atlanta’s many new and magnificent enterprises.
These works designed, erected nnd equipped complete by the Engineering De
partment of N. P. Pratt Laboratory, represent all that is most modem in machine
shop and foundry practice. The buildings arc of steel nnd of fire proof construc
tion throughout, and the equipment is second to no plant North or South. All ma
chine tools being individually and electrically driven permit the unobstructed
travel of massive overhead electric cranes for the handling of all classes of heavy
work with ease and precision.
The various departments have been designed nnd equipped to provide what
has so long been needed in this section in the way of a complete Machine Shop and
Foundry, capable of handling promptly, accurately and economically any work re
quired of it.
The works have beeu erected primarily to cover all branches of heavy machine
shop and foundry work, aud particularly for the well known Pratt fertilizer machin
ery and sulphuric acid appliances. In addition to this line of manufacture, they will
cater to the wants of its many patrons in other lines of work, which its modem equip
ment will enable it to care for to their best interests.
The plant is also equipped to handle the demands of brick yards, quarries,
mines, mills, etc., and will manufacture a full line of transmission, emshing nnd pul
verizing machinery, Sugar Mill Machinery, Cement Mill Machinery, etc., etc.
Inquiries are solicited for heavy castings in steel, semi-steel, iron, ' brass,
bronzes and special alloys.
Visitors and Others Interested are Especially Invited to Call and Inspect the Works, Where They Will Be

The development of the Engineering Department of the Laboratory has been
sharp, effective and heavy nnd the eutire South is dotted with large industrial en
terprises of different kinds which have been successfully engineered and erected
by this company. More tlmu thirty-eight chemical works, besides power plants,
electric plants nnd similar industries, have been successfully put into operation by
them, and the progressiveness and modem methods pursued have, won universal
. recognition and favor.
In 1897 the Star Foundry aud Machine Works was incorporated, and in Pe-
eember. 1898, the title of the corporation was changed to Fulton Foundry and Ma
chine Works. On January 1st, 1904, the N. P. Pratt Laboratory purchased the en
tire stock of Fulton Foundry and Machine Works, and has since run the plant at
its old stand on Marietta street. During this time demands made upon the plant
were far in excess of the capacity of its equipment, and it was finally concluded
to purchase the site, which has since beeu bought at Kirkwood, and erect thereon
the modem works as shown and described above.
Mr. George L. Pratt, the efficient vice-president of the Laboratory, will have
personal direction of the entire business of Fulton Foundry and Machine'Works un
der the general direction of the president, Mr. N. P. Pratt,'and thev will be assisted
in same by Mr. W. L. Hancock, manager of shops.
