The July option ln New Orleans was
sstln a factor In the cotton markets.
It has reversed Its position nnd has

Liverpool was not encouraging this

soots and futures. Spinners Increased
their takings, sales aggregating 10,000
jJJtv York opened lower to the ex

aggressive in the early trading and
forced prices sharply lower,- after
which short coveting waa sufficient to
cause a slight Improvement.
The western belt still needs rain.
Otherwise, weather conditions are fa

The New Orleana market was
fettled, with sentiment bearish. Of

STRONG CLIQUE BULL TRAD

RANGE OF NEW YORK STOCK MARKE
Stocks Were in Free Supply and
Commission Houses Were
Free Sellers.
By Private Leaeed Wire.
New York, June 13.—Today-* mar
ket waa again one where there was lit
tle actual nevva, a pronounced uncer
tainty among the profeaslonel trader*
and In consequence a very Irregular
price movement. Two or three stocks
continued to be bought heavily, but for
reaaons which seemed to be entirely
distinct from conelderatlons governing
the general market The Buying of St.
Paul, which made the greatest show of
atrength, waa once more a subject of
mystery to the grading party.
The only other stock to show re
sistance waa BalUmore and Ohio,
which, under the aame rumor* that
were made use of yesterday, rose a
point nnd held Its gain. In other
quarter* the market during the fore
noon waa heavy and lost ground
steadily. Larger blocks were for sale
at the declining prices than have ap
peared for some time, with special
weakness ln the Steel ahnrea. Union
Pacific, Copper, Beading and Brooklyn
Rapid Transit.
In the stock markat Initial prices
with comparatively few exceptions. In
cluding Amalgamated, which gained
1-8, showed declines. Krle, New York
Central, Colorado Fuel and Pennsyl
vanla railroad started 1-8 lower; Read
Ing and Brooklyn Rapid Transit,
and Union Paclflc, 1-4 per cent.
The stock market waa made strong
at the opening by a clique of strong
bull traders, but stocks were In free
supply, and after the early gains near
ly everything on the Hat shaded off
from the highest prices of the first
few minutes. Commission Houses were
sellers of stock*.
Governments unchanged. Othar

advices were to the effect that the
market’s undertone had become very
weak and that It was a difficult mat
ter to sell cotton. The declining prices
could, ln all probability, be attributed
to the very favorable crop reports that
continue to be received, and options
netted a loss of 8 point* over yester
day's close. Spot transactions show
ed a healthy Increase, however,
amounting td 10,000 bales at 3 points
lower. The July liquidation, while not
ao active today aa recently, neverthe
less continues to be a tentative In
fluence In. supporting the market.
Some aggressiveness was dtsplayad by
the ahort aide In the earlier trad
ing, but the market offered so much
resistance that bearish tactics were
more or less abandoned, although the
heavy rains In the eastern bell were
generally coneldered beneficial. For
the moment, and pending the final
outcome of the July specter, the mar
ket may not entirely reflect by price-
changes the real character of the
weather, aa an Influence, neverthe
less, It It a weather market, pure and

ports of damage be received to til

that some concerted action on the part
the bears will soon be witnessed,

prices.
Chicago, June 13.—WHEAT mar
ket, after opening, as a result of the
advance In Liverpool" cables, scored
quite a fair reaction, due to profit-
taking by local longs and selling by
commission houses. Trade through
out was featureless and of professional
character. So long, as the wave of
pessimism continues to sweep tne
country, bullleh news, whether real or
fictitious, will not only be at an exor
bitant premium, but will be manufac
tured to suit the bulls, hence It would

support was given the market, however, on
the decline, the corn market started lip
nod thereafter wheat ruled fairly strong
and active. Oats made almost as good a
showing. There was a largo nnd piiral
