pected, whereas. the opening, cable

quence thst market opened dull with
floor traders about the only buyers or

higher to 3 points lower, though the
undertone was steady, nnd shortly af
ter the opening prices were slightly

In eome of the Atlantic states com
plaints are being received of too much
rain, while parts of Texas are too dry.
Generally, however, tho weather Is con
sidered favorable.
In the later trading the early ad
vance was lost and prices generally
were forced below yesterday’s finals.

dearth of new* from Liverpool, from
which it la natural to nsaume that
no dtvelopment* have occurred to dla

levels, while spot sales are assuming
n decidedly better basis. Ten thousand
bales have been sold today at an ad
vance of 1 point. Today's early ses
sion waa very quiet, but after the
noon hour considerable aelllng waa
Indulged In with July the center of at
tack. Thla new turn' of affairs waa
attributed to the liquidation of the
long Interest. The weather map, de
spite the fact that no rains fell In
Texas, was generally considered fa
vorable. The forecast for tomorrow
for the western belt, however, seems
to indicate that the weather la unset
tled over Texaa and shower* are pre
dicted for the northern portion of the
state, where they are not needed. The
visible statement Is again expected to
ha bullish, and from the comparatively
small amount of cotton Into alght for
the week—namely, 46.00# bales—and
the decrease in receipts and heavy In
crease In shipments of the Bombay
movement, seems to give ROod *™uy<)*
that these expectations will be futntl-
ed. But the trade pays little atten
tion lo any marked Improvement In the
statstlca! position of the. preaent crop,
and when the July position Is finally
closed, the last vestige of Influence,
