A few days after form' Ing this resolution he found a larger and prettier pearl than any he had ever taken out. so he sent It to the dealer with the statement that he would take 21,150 for It, and felt that this was a very fancy price. The dealer very promply sent hie check for 21,150. Later Gilliland saw the dealer and he told him he sold the near! to Tif fany for 215,000. “But,” said the deol- “1 was ns big a fool for selling It Tiffany for 215,000 ea you were for selling lt,to me for 21,150.” The dealer went to New York to make the sale, and felt that he had driven the bar gain of his life when he unloaded his pearl on Tiffany for 215,000, but hadn’t gotten out of New York .before he read In a paper where Tiffany had ■old that Identical pearl for 265,006.
