The lawn In front of the Martet Col
lege presented a bright picture Wed
nesday afternoon, when numbers of
pe'ople attended the lawn party given
there under the auspices of the Altar
Society of the Sacred Heart church. On

A shooting gallery afforded much
amusement to the boys, while for the
girls there were a number of games
provided. "The Cabbage Patch," of
which Miss Lily Peeples waa the pre
elding genius, waa popular with chib
dren and with grown folks allka. The
guests were served by a bevy of young
girls, who added greatly to the enjoy
ment of the evening. The entertain
ment will continue until 10 o'clock on
Wednesday evening, many features be
ing provided during the evening for
the pleasure of the older people.

The bridesmaids wore white lingerie
toilettes with green girdles. Their bou
quets were of white sweet pea blos-

supper waa served buffet style, with

They received several hundred hand
some gifts coming from Tennessee,

ding trip to New York, Philadelphia

The wedding of Sir. John Ducklett*
Knox and Miss Annie Mae Thorn took
place Tuesday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mra. Charles Charlton Thorn,
116 East North avenue, Rev. J. W. Lee
officiating.
In the drawing room where the cere
mony waa performed the Improvised
altar was formed by palms and ferns.
The inaiUela and windows were banked
with ferns and white carnations and
roses, the color scheme being white
and green throughout the home.
Mies Grace Thorn, slater of the bride,
was maid of honor and Mr. Garnet
Wolaeley Hardin, of Shreveport. La.,
was best man. Mra, Lucius J. Harris,
Jr., was matron of honor; bridesmaids,
Mlssee Haxel Adkins, Joale Lee Willi
ford, Zulu Adkins Floy Felker, of
Monroe, and Willie Russell Law.
The pretty ribbon-bearers were little
MlsSea Gladys Byrd and Ella Law
rence, who wore white lace frocks.
The bride wore a gown of white
crepe de chine trimmed with duchesee
and rose point lace. The skirt was
made with panels of the lore and the
corsage Was draped with a deep bertha
of the rose point. The tulle veil waa
caught with a wreath of orange blos
soms. Her bouquet waa of bride hoses
and lilies of the valley, and her only
ornament was a diamond crescent,
gift from the groom.
The maid of honor wore a prlncesee
gown of pale green chiffon cloth
trimmed with prlncesee lace. Her bou
quet waa of white roaet tied with green
tulle.
The bridesmaids' .gowne were of
white chiffon fashioned with Valen
ciennes lace. Their gloves and girdles
were pale green, and In their hair they
wore half wreaths of white roses They
rarried bouquets of white carnations
tied with green tulle.
After the ceremony the guests were
entertained at an elegant reception and
buffet supper. In the dining room the
bridal table was prettily decorated
with white and green flowera. The
heart-shaped cake waa placed
mound of white rosea bordered with
ferae. The crystal candleettcka had
green ellk shades with silver fllagree
and the Ices and bonbons were In white
and green.
The bride's gifts to her bridesmaids
were gold signet rings with the Initiate
•'K. T., '06," engraved on them.
Mra. Thorn, mother of the bride,
wore a gown of pale gray crepe de
chine trimmed with rose point lace and
chiffon. The groom's mother wore a
gown of white Loutslne silk, fashioned
with Irish point.
Wurm's orchestra rendered an elab
orate program during the evening.
The groom's gift to the bride was a
