Tha resolution provides for the col

It la tha purpose of the act to make

Including school district through
which they may pass.
The bill la aa follows:

* The bill provides for Inspection of
all Illuminating_oll* -produced, sold or
used In the state. Oil used by the rail*
roads Is not Inspected now, because the
roada Insist that It la none of the
state's business about their oil.
They contend that the oil le Inspect

Inspection la not necessary.
Officials of the department of agri
culture, under which the oil Inspection
Is conducted, think It makes for public
safety to Inspect the oil used by the
railroads or for any purpose In Qeor-
gln This feature of the bill will prob
ably pass.without serious opposition.
But the proposition to raise the sal
ary of the state oil Inspector from
SI,200 to $1,600 will have opposition.
, Dr. \V. r. Bryan now* holds that place.
His duties are not arduous, and very
little of hla time la required In the
•work. Already some members are say
ing that the Job Is a sinecure, ami
that $1,)00 Is more than enough pay.
< Senator Peyton Introduced a Mil Fri
day to Increase the salaries of the com-
ml*aloner of agriculture, the commis
sioner of penalona and the state school
rommlaaloner from $2,000 to $S,000 per
annum. It la the policy of the times
to pay public official* what they are
worth, and these Increases will hardly
meet with aerlous opposition, If any at
all.
If the commissioner of agriculture la
given the $1,000 Increase, the salary
Hat of the department will be near
$12,000 per year.
