July 1.—Chtlsn Perurhl, the comedian who has been playing here at the summer theater, will conduct his tour this year on stoamboat and will play only seaport towns on the coast of Florida, Carolina and Alabama. His company will live on the boat Mr. Peruchl has purchased n steel boat, 70 feet long and 16 feet wide. It Is fitted up with seven statu rooms and will be large enough for carrying a full troupe of actors. The boat was formerly owned by tho governor of Ohio, Hon. A. llushnell, and cost 321,000.• The boat Is fitted hp with two large 27-horse power engines, electric lights, a large salon finished In gold nnd enamel, fine plate glass mirrors, nnd tile. Pensacola, Fla., July 2.—Arrange ments are being made by -the Gulf Transit Company to,* bring laborers from other places In an effort to break the strike which has been on at Com- meridencla wharf, the largest of the Louisville and Nashville wharves. Laborers who have been paid 31.60 per day asked an Increase or 60 cents, and upon being refused, went out. A number of big foreign steamers are loading at the wharf. C., July 2.—Begin ning today, the Atlantic Coast Line railway takes charge of the affairs of the Conway Coast and Western rail road, which extends from Aynor, 8. C.. to Myrtle Beach, S. C., via Conway. Later a consolidation with the Coast Line will probably be ordered by the directors of the South Carolina road. It is officially denied that the Coast Line has bought a controlling Interest In the Rnfelgh and Southport. A cloee alliance has, however, been formed be tween the roads. REDUCED R. R.
