Dan William*, a young white man, created a acene of excitement Wedne, day afternoon In Wall atreet, directly In front of the Western and Atlantic passenger station, by attacking and striking Annie Caldwell, a young white woman, whose hoihe Is at Decatur and Butler streets. A great crowd of people wa. In the street and about the depot and the af fair caused a lively stir. Policemen Starnes and Rosser, plain clothes of ficers, were near by, and. rushing to the scene, took Williams Into custody before he had done any serious damage to the woman. After Williams was taken to a police signal box In Wall street to await the arrival of a patrol wagon, he Is said to have acted In a very disorderly man ner, caning wildly. Numbers of ladles were passing through Wall street at the time and were compelled to change their course. On arrival at the police station, Wil liams continued his disorderly conduct. As a result of his wild rampage three cases were entered against him and were tried Thursday morning before Recorder Broyles. Williams denied he had done any thing wrong at all. After hearing the evidence Judge Broyles Imposed a fine of 925.75 In each of the three cares and ordered the prisoner hsld so he can be further prosecuted In the state courta on the charge of using profane language In the presence of ladies.
