Far and away the most Important dovelopmont tn tho senate was tho Introduction Friday of a child labor bill, which Is assured of passage In that body by tho signatures of twenty- three members, a constitutional major ity. Thirty-one members are directly pledged to this bill In the senate. Regnant public sentiment has doubtedly had much to do with this chnngo of front pn tho part of men who lost session fought and killed the child labor blit In the senate. Manager Milton Dargan, of ths Royal Insurance Company’s Southern Stanford JA’hlte, the prominent New York architect, who was murdered In a sensational manner ■ on Madlaon Square roof garden last week by Harry Thaw, was Insured In the New York Life Insurance Company for 110,000, 110,000 of which vis written In ill* and the rest In 1895. Isnta branch office ot the Travelers* Insurance Company, of Hartford, Conn, returned this week from a visit to the home office of his company, on which ho was accompanied by Mrs. William son. Mr. Williamson brings back with him a well-deserved promotion In the Insurance lint, as he has been ap pointed supervisor of all the company's accident agents In the states of Geor gia and South Carolina. In' this posi tion he succeeds ths late Rotcoe IV. Gorman, who was accidentally killed about a year ago, and whose place has never been Ailed by the company. Mr. Williamson has a remnrkabls record In tho Insurance business, hav ing had only a year's experience, all with the Travelers. His record has been so satisfactory to the company, however, that the new place was of fered him. Ills headquarters will bo at ths Atlanta office, where he became cashier on June 6, 1005, after resigning from the Management of the city de livery office of the Southern Express Company. He will be succeeded as cashier by Mr. Edward Williams, now with ths Southern Express Company. Mr. Williamson will leave Atlanta on August 1 for a month's training In the company's home office school at Hart ford, a privilege accorded all new Held men, and will take up his new duties on September1. HOUSE BILL NO, 201 STRONG BY OPPOSED THE ATLANTA FIRE INSURANCE AGENTS ARE SOLID AGAINST IT. Atlanta Are Insurance agents, nnd agents all 6ver the atate are strongly opposed to ths passage of a bill now before tho legislature known os sub stitute for houso bill No. 201. This bill was left over from last year and has again been brought up for con slderatlon. The bill does away with all warranties contained In tho policy aa to ths condition In which the assured should keep his buildings and bis books and would allow a man to get lnsur nnce on buildings and then let hla Are protection rust to pieces, or to keep no books or records of business, with out affecting his policies.
