New York, July 10.—Barely any
thing worth recording happened In to-
day's early market. Tho only feature
at all was a further contraction In the
volume of business, the total transae
tlona falling to the lowest ebb In a long
while. The reason for this was easily
apparent. There w as no selling ‘of con
sequence, neither Avas there nny buy
Ing, and those opposing characteristics
were ► , plainly stamped upon the deal
Inga that even tho profeaslonal traders
abandoned the market In disgust.
Prices vacillated between strength and
weakness without nny real movement
either way. In the first half hour n
feeble effort was made to get atorks
down, but as has been the esse for
several days, no liquidation was

New York, July 10. 11 a. m—The
market during the first hour was sag
glng without significance or lmpor-
lance to thd price movements. The
dullness, although natural for the sea
son of the year, was regarded with
dissatisfaction by the room traders,
who. found It hard to cauao enough Im
pression on values to allow them to
make fair proflta. After they had sold
stocks early, causing declines of 1 to
I points, moderate buying by-them
selves caused a general recovery. Lon
don waa as dull as New York and arbi
trage brokers ceased cabling soon after
the opening, saying there was no op.
portuntty for them to trade.
