Paris. July 14.—The condition of Un
der Secretary of State Servant, who
was wounded lh a duel with M. Pug-
Ilsal-Contl ae a result of the debate
over the Dreyfua affair, le considered
serious today.
The laceration of the right lung
pierced by the sword of M. Sarraut's
antagonist waa more severe than, was
at first thought.
A National Combat.
Ths duel assumed the aspect of a
combat. between the government and
the opposition, as M. Sarraut's seconds
were Ministers Clemsncseu and Thom
son, while M. Puglteal-Contl'a were
M. Mlllevove and General Jacquet, who
were drawn from the elements which
bitterly reelet the government's
habllltatlon of Dreyfua.
The duel and the fight which led up
to it has Increased the intensity of
feeling and the sentiment Is growing
stronger that the men who disgraced
Dreyfua and Franc* should be pun
ished.
Tardy Honor for Zola.
The government newspaper* declare
that the affair le closed, but others,
notably the Figaro and the Echo de
Paris, assart that litres reprisals anp
about to begin.
The municipal council of Parle has
resolved to name a principal street
Emil Kola, In recognition of th* late
novelist’s defense of Dreyfus. Ths city

erection of a monument to Zola, and a
public demonstration at the tomb of
