Netv York, July 20.—Foreign cables
were weak this morning, nnd together
with better weather forecasts for the
belt, caused an easier tone to the New
York market.
Our market opened 8 to 7 points down
and continued under preesure up to
noon. There teemed to be quite a large
lot of cotton for eale, with 'but few
takers.
While there wae some activity from
the bears, the dtepokltlon was not to
he aggressive, the bulk of the trade
seeming content go hold off and await
developments. Crop reports continue
mixed, but sentiment on the floor ap
pears to be against the market, tt being
the general belief that the crop la pro
gressing nicely In most localities.
On the other hand, the bulla claim
that should hot, dry weather follow the
recent rains, the sappy condition rf. the
plant will cause It to shed badly.
