with hotter weather forecasts for the
belt, rnuecd an eaeler tone to the New
York market
Our market opened 6 to 7 polnta down
and continued under preaaure up to
noon. There eeemed to be quit* a large
lot of cotton for sale, with but few
taker*.
While there was aome activity from
the bears, the disposition waa not to
be aggressive, the bulk of tho trade
seeming content to hold off and await
developments. Crop reports continue
mixed, but sentiment on the floor ap
pears to be agalnat the market, It being
lie general belief that the crop la pro
gressing nicely In most localities.
On tna other hand, the bulla claim
that should hot, dry weather follow the
recent rain*, tho sappy condition <r. the
plant will cause It to ehed badly.
