president’s office that eight white peo
ple and twelve negroes have been killed
and five white and nineteen blacks In
jured. It la possible that there may
be others.
On account of wires having been
knocked down by the accident. It la Im
possible to get correct lists of the
killed.
The accident was caused by the
failure of the operator at Rockingham
to hold No. 44 for tha extra freight
train."

now the belief of nearly cvsry on* In
terested In the mysterious disappear
ance of Miss Wlnsola 51. Goodell that
she has eloped. Is flow married under
an assumed name and that she will be
heard from before many days. A
young woman, answering her descrip
tion, was married July > at Holyoke,
acoordlng to a letter just received.
One person, who still maintains the
opinion that she has been murdered
and that her body will be found in Up
per pond, It her father, Wesley M.
Goodell, and her Immediate relatives.
Mr. Goodell Is a spiritualist, and places
S eat confidence In tha declarations of
r. Eseklel M. Abbey, a medium, who
went Into a franco and declared that
the body of the girl will be found In
the northern part of Upper pond, and
that when It Is found the mystery will
be deeper than ever.
Even though he believes his daugh
ter to be lying lifeless on ths bottom
of the pond, Mr. Goodell declares that
he will be the happiest man In the
world If she hoe eloped, and will wel
come her home with open arme.
A notable sdclal affair In Masonic
circles was the banquet tendered Mon
day night to Judge John R. Wilkinson
by the clsse which took the . thirty-
second degree on July 11, 1808. Those
who assisted Judge Wilkinson In the
administration were Edward 8. Me-
Candles*, Joseph C. Greenfield and A.
8. Elchberg, who were alio Included as

offices of President Walter of the Sea-
Dr. James W. Lee, pastor of Trinity
Methodist church, will leave for his
summer vacation Monday noon, and
be absent from tha city four Sundays.
Dr. Lee will spend several weeks In
Brooklyn with his son. Ivy Lee, after
which he will go up In the Cataklll
mountains for a visit with Mr. George
F. Parker, of New York.
Dr. Lee will fill the following pulpits
while In the East; Mt. Vernon Meth
odist church, Brooklyn Dutch Reform
church and Simpson Street Methodist
