By Private Leased Wire.
New York, July 25.—There was much
discussion around town concerning the de
cision In the McGnrey-IIosey fight ou Sun
day.
The McGnrey men contend that Amby
was slipped the hooks, nnd thnt he was
fouled deliberately. Honey'* friends claim
thnt McGnrey, feeling his strength fadlpg,
fell—trying to win on a foul.
It really did look ns though McOarey
ns slowing up; but he has been such a
tough proposition In the past thnt It seems
strange how he could wenkeu In three
rounds.
The first blow which McGnrey claimed
ns foul was not. It did not J>otber him
any more than it bothered me, because bis
knee Is tough, nnd It landed there.
Gnrey was anxious to lose on a foul, any
way.
Willie Lewis claims thnt he Is the
‘nearest champion" that ever lived. Willie
wnnted to be welterweight champ nnd
outboxed Joe Gnns, In New York, getting
up nenr It. Then be met Honey Melody,
the white champion, and had the latter
the floor nt the count of eight. The
next round Willie went out.
"What d’ye think of that," says Lewis.
‘Two more seconds, and It would have
been mine. Gee! It was near."
Joe Murray, of Newark, and Eddie GII-
mnrtln, of Jersey City, are to meet again
nnd fight It ofit for the featherweight
championship of Jersey. The boys met
several weks ago, nnd Murray put Gil*
martin nwny.
A! Gardner, of PheuIxvIUe, To., has been
matched by the National Athletic Club, of
hllndelphln, to meet Tommy Murphy uext
Friday night. The boys are to meet at
catch-weights.
Harry Lewis, the Phltndelphln light
weight, who recently defeated Jlnuny
Briggs nnd Tommy Pcndergast, nt Grand

Terry McGovern, nt Philadelphia, In the

HAUNTS PRISONER
TRY A WANT AD
IN THE GEORGIAN c#B,pW ' ,d4 ^
Special to The Georgian.
Charlotte, N. C., July 25.—A corre
spondent visited the Mecklenburg
county Jail here Tuesday to Interview
the five negroes held as the alleged
murderers of the Lyerly family. There
Is a negro minister In the jail, sent up
for getting moving plctuie machines
under false pretense, and he declare*
that Jack Dillingham, one of the five
men, had been acting queer in his sleep
for some time, jumping up and calling
out, "You’d better not tell, or I’ll kill
you, and you’ll be like a baby on the
ground," or words to that effect. The
dreams of Dillingham, If based on real
ity, must be frightful, and the colored
preacher has been terribly frightened,
he says, on account of the way the man
acts In his sleep.
One of the Inmates of the jatl has
sent out a letter to the sheriff of Rowan
county, where the terrible crime was
committed. In which he says that sev
eral of the prisoners have overheard
enough to make them believe that the
negroes know a good deal about the
affair.
