Rounsavllle, of Rome, wa* In Atlanta during the early part of this week, en route to her home She haa been at Atlantic Beach and «topi In Jackaonvllle for several day*. While there she was th* guest of honor i lunchon given by Mrs. Edwin Q. W Mr*. Rounsavllla wa* formerly presi dent general of the U. D. C„ and state regent for Georgia of the D. A. R. She Is a very cultured and prominent wo man. A great deal of Interest Is centered In the meeting, early In October of the Woman's Club of Atlanta. Mr*. McD. Wilson will then preside for the first time since her election a* president of the organisation, and this meeting is certain to be tilled with Interesting events. Mr*. Wilson I* one of the most charming and highly cultured women of the state, and her executive ability I* almost unsurpassed, for she ha* a thorough knowledge of many subjects and handles (hem with tact and skill. Mis* Isma Dooly's article. In The Constitution a few weeks ago, touch ing upon the district school work, was Interesting and well written. The following Is a report In part of the Cass Station Model School: Since my last yearly report we have suffered the loss by llro of all our school property. The Are occurred at midnight April 27, 1205. The next morning a number of peo S le gathered at the site of the burned ulldlngs, not a plank of which was left. ' When I Spoke of resuming school (one month of the session remaining) several places In which to teach-were quickly offered. Two ladles, one a patron, the other a friend, Instated that * room In their homes be used. A two-room cabin, near by, was •elected, however, the pupil* and teach ers whitewashed It nnd put It In ae good order a* they could, and though tho difficulties seemed Insurmountable, good work wo* done. Now, after much hard work and surmounting many Intricate difficulties, more than could be told, an attractive two-atory building haa been erected and one much better suited to the needa of the aehool. On tho first floor la the kitchen, shop, assistant's room, cloak room and halls The main school room, which la to > upstairs, I* Incomplete, as I1D0 Is needed to finish It. For the present the shop Is used for a school room and moat of the manual training work Is done In a side hall. The cost of the building complete will be 52,000. The attendence Is better than ever before. The lessons In habits of In dustry, neatness, promptness and value of time Is bearing good fruit. Moat of the puplla are deeply Inter ested and are doing fine work. They have helped greatly In making tables, benches, shelves and putting up and framing blackboards and pictures, etc. They will have their usual school gar den, and will enter the state cotton and corn contest: also for the medal and prise offered by the Georgia di vision, Unllsd Daughter* of the Con federacy, and are much Interested In each. In a recent county oratorical contest one of th* younger pupil* won th# — — ids ' - medal. ke*p the hulldlnr The pui and ground* In excellent condition. In each room Is a motto, and Ihsy are: "Everything Depends Upon ths Beginning," ''Anything Worth Doing St all Is Worth Doing Well," "We Must Con— — ~ Not be Content Until We' Have Done Our Best." Ths club women know so wall what conatltuta* a modal *chool ami what Is done In one, that It Is unnecessary to repeat. The teachers, Miss Smith, Mrs. Clark and Mlaa Foute, keep In close touch with each other, the children and their homes, and are doing remarkably good —ork. Not that we object to negro education. We are In favor of a common aehool education for all alike, for Intelllgmt labor la the beet labor the world over. Of course, much of the negro education la a fares; merely the monkey Imitation of- knowledge and not knowledge Itself.
