Mr. Msddax's residence was deco, rated with roses, ferns and palms, and the game as* played on the wide ve randas. A delightful luncheon was served during the afternoon. The first prize, a handsome hand-painted cake plate, was won by Mrs. Larendon: the consolation, a pair of ribbon sleeve' holders, became Mrs. C. J. It la shown that there haa been an actual decreaae of 3600,000 in the amount of taxable property, due to the fact that all corporations holding fran chlsea from the state make their re turns thla year directly to the comp troller general. The actual Increase In taxable property-, making allowance for thla change, haa been about 31,200,000. TWO YOUNG MEN ARE CONVICTED OF HOTEL ROBBERY Special to The Georgian. Savannah, Ga., Aug. *.—S. H. Reid and J. H. Henderson, two young men convicted of entering rooms at Hotel Tybee, were sentenced by Judge Cann yesterday, the former receiving one year in the state prison and the latter five years. The evidence showed that Henderson had planned the robberies and watched while Reid did tho work. Reid Is an opium fiend.
