New York, Aug. 8.—In the cotton market
public caldea were disappointing this morn
ing. The bearish force of the advices from
abroad, however, was more than offset by
reports of heavy rains In north central
Texas. Houses with private wires bought
qq the crop news and Liverpool houses pur
chased October and December quite freely.
The list ruled firm after the start.
Liverpool tbla morning somewhat better
than expected In the tutures department,
opening about 5 to o points lower, whereas
it was doe to come about & points down.
