Spartanburg, 8. C., Aug. 10.—War
rants hsve been sworn out for the ar-
reet of several whits men on the chsrge
of whipping Mrs. Harriet Coburn, a
poor but respectable white woman, who
lived on a farm In the lower section of
this county. After being whipped, Mrs.
Coburn and her two children left the
county, fearing to return because of
the threats that had been made against
her.
Mrs. Coburn, who suffered at the
hands of the wblts men. Is said to be
in Lancaster county, and when the
rase Is ready for trial she will be on
hand. , i
