ADE ON ENGLISH HUMOR. George Ade declares the English have a sense of humor, but the humor must he something other than the American brand. "All humor is local," said Mr. Ade. "YY’hat is funny in Chicago Isn’t funny In New York, it is the same the worjd over—locality has everything to with It. "The English hive a sense of hutnor, of course, but it Is very different from ours. They appreciate Impossible sit uations, when they are portrayed, very keenly. A favorite bit of comedy with them Is the part of the play when the servant masquerades as the mistress— It seems so utterly absurd and Impossi ble to them to thrive the servant putting on the airs of the master or mistress that they laugh very heartily. You see, it depends entirely on the point of lew. "American humor doe* not appeal to the English people, because they can’t appreciate It right away and don’t care enough'about It to investigate It. If an English show is presented on this side we all go and make a fuss over It und over the actors. If there I* a situation which we do not see at first we sit idowtrsnd figure It out until we get It. lover there they don’t see it, and they “DIAMONDS BRING SUCCESS." By our partial payment plan you can wear a nice diamond white paying for It. Thla la the beat way to apend money and at the came time aave It.
