First prices were 6 joints higher. Pro
fessional trading predominated early In the
session, and It looked as though strong ef
forts would Iks made to force ft number of
big accounts with wenk margins to liqui
date. and room traders again started the
movement.
The opening for cotton for future deliv
ery in New York was disappointing in that,
while an ndvnnee was noted. It was not n
full response to the tatter sdvlces from
Liverpool, tath spot and futures In that
center being slightly tatter than due.
As on yesterday, however, tatter prf_
followed the opening, the high taint of the
previous day being passed, from which level
the market turned dowuwsrd. taking of
profits, favorable weather and liberal move
ment of new cotton Ju Texas being the lu-

to distinguish any tendency at all In <hu
price movement. For the entire morning,
the tide of speculation moved restlrasly
to and fro. At Intervale, creditable
strength was shown; nt other times It ap
peared that realising sales wera sufficient
to fill every bid of speculators anxious to
renew the rise. Ueuerally, the trading by
comparison with the previous day* was

was much narrower. The feature of the
morning was Great Northern preferred,

from Its opening figures. Northern Pa
cific rose briskly In sympathy, and the
