of a total of nearly twenty, that have
been filed under the provisions of the
new railroad rate law.
Sioux City and Rock Springs coal
Mining Company against the Union
Pacific, charges that the latter con
trols and owns coal mines In Wyom
ing, to which It constructs branch lines
but will not construct a branch line for
the complainant.
The St. Louis Hay and Grain Com
pany against the Louisville & Nash
ville, the Mobile & Ohio, the Illinois
Central nnd the Southern Railway
charges tha the defendants Illegally
exact. In addition to the regular estab
lished rate, a penalty of two cents per
hundred pounds on hay. reconslgned
at East St. Louis, which originates on
points along lines other than the de
fendant lines.

the Associate Reformed church, with
representatives from a number of
states, came to a close last night, after
a two days’ session In Charlotte.
The convention was Attended by

the Reformed church also were on
hand nnd made the principal talks of
the meeting. There were several mis
sionaries In attendance, they likewise
