Sept. 17.—A1I the passengers have been
landed from the steamship Mongoloa.

ashore on Midway reef, but the ship
Is In a perilous position. The ship Is
being lightened In an effort to fioat her.
Her sister ship, the Manchuria, which
went ashore on Rabbit Island on Au
gust 20, has Just been floated, after the
company had paid 60 per cent for re
insurance. The disaster to the Man
churia Is believed to have been caused
by a new current In the Pacific, due to
disturbances shown by the earthquake

Columbia, 8. C., Sept. 17.—Owing to
the fact that the speech made here by
Colonel Bryan will be the only one de
livered In the state, his reception will
be a state event, and It Is expected that
the largest crowd assembled here In
oars w’HI be In attendance.
President W. A. Clark, of the Co
lumbia Chamber of Commerce, will
preside and Introduce Mayor T. H.
Glbbes, who will welcome Mr. Bryan to
the city. Governor D. C. Heyward will
then welcome Mr. Bryan to the state
and introduce him to the audience.
After the speaking Mr. and Mrs. Bryan
will hold a public reception In the state
capitol. At the conclusion of the re
ception Mr. and Mrs. Bryan will be
driven to the home of Captain and Mrs.
W. E. Gonzales, where they will be en
tertalned at luncheon.
Mr. Bryan will probably leave Co
lumbla at 5 p. m., going to Atlanta via
Augusta.
