STOCKS REVIEWED
BY NEW YORK SUN
New York, Hept. 17.-The Hun says: After
n strong opening Inst Monday the stock
market reacted somewhat nnd fluctuated
rather nervously throughout the week, pre
serving. however, a general undertone of
great strength. It can only be said that the
outlook Is for higher values. We are still
admittedly not entirely out of the woods ns
regards the money situation, and yet It
seems ns if this was a matter wholly and
abundantly under control. Engagements of
gold for our account In foreign parts lu the
course of the last fortnight have footed up
over 426,000,000, nnd It Is regarded as proba-
bln by our best Iwinkors that at least 880,*
000,000 of gold will be brought Into the coun
try before the movement ^cessea. while
there may l*e occasional spurts In money
rates In wall street before the end of the
year, it certainly doe* seem probable that
nothing like stress in this respect will egaln
he witnessed. As concern* the constructive
side of the mnrket. prosperity of the coun
try Is snch that the general phraaea neces
sarily used to describe It are weak and
'"fur huge harvests have Justly inspired
all classes of people with confidenco, and
in consequence orders nre being addressed
to the manufacturing center* by railroad
companies for new supplies and materials
of every description In a way that Insures
profits to these concerns for at least six
months nhead. There are few. If an/, sa
gacious observers who. are Inclined to ra*
gnrd as of snbatnntisl adverse Importance
In view of the existence of great favorable
