CRUEL TREATMENT OF GIRL CHARGED TO MOTHER AND SON On the charge of cruelly beating her 14-year-old daughter, Lena, Monday afternoon, Mrs. Jane Redd, of 59 Wyman etreet, will be arraigned Wed nesday afternoon before Recorder Broyles. William Redd, Mrs. Redd’s 20-year-old son, will be called on to answer the same charge. The cases against the mother and son were entered by Dr. Carnes, officer of the humane society, on complaint of neighbors, who declared that Mrs. Redd and her son had cruelly mistreated the girl. Mrs. Redd and her son admit whip ping the girl, it is said, but protest that they did not treat her cruelly or Inhumanly. They say It waa necessary to chastise her.
