conservative Improvement, and we Ih*I
Important deni* under negotiation neces
sitate activity, while the insiders desiring
to maintain public Interest and keep the
market's outside following Intact, must
sustain activity. Therefore, no serious re
cession seems likely. Remember that the
big fellows have the hacking of the strong
est fundamentals ever brought forward for
a hull market, nnd also recollect that con
servatlain has been practiced for n if"
time, which ha* imparted a foundation
stability to not only general business but
to llunure. nnd this consideration we deem
arc conservatively bullish.
New York, Kept. 19.—Agnln Liverpool tried
to help the bulls out nnd failed to respond
fully to ths decline In our market yeater
day, hut the hulls failed to take advantage
of the opportunity, hence, price* opened off
2 to 4 points. The public continue* to play
the waiting game, and In the meantime the
ring trader* mouse themselves hr. plhjlu*
ping pong with Ihe market, one day hallo,
the next bear*; Crop reports continue to
come In very much mixed, some claiming
that prospect* hare never been better and
others that they are very poor. Thero Is
doubt lint tlmt conditions have been de
teriorating rapidly for the last three weeks,
as I* usual for a wet aonaon as wa bare
had, nnd by the. October report of th# gov
ernment wa expect to nee n substantia! fall
ing off In the figures. We do not believe In
the bumper crop estlinntes that have been
floating around, nnd think we will do well
to g$»t 11,760,000, which will hardly lie suf
fleient to supply the demand In view of the
small surplus carried over. Also with the
lateness of the crop, we think present
prices too low to hold.

ON MONEY SITUATION
Stocks Canned Over Night
Sold Quickly as Possible
This Morning.
New York, Sept. 19.—For the same
reaaona that were behind yesterday’!
unaettled dealing the market went
down again thla morning. The selling
waa not af all precipitate and waa
conducted with careful regard for com
parative stability In prices. But it waa
nevertheleas apparent that atocka were
being preaaed for aale ns fast aa the
market could safely take them. The
outcome of yesterday’s primaries In
New York city was, from a Wall street
point of view, unsatisfactory and un
doubtedly was a factor In tho day’s
less confident feeling. But the local
traction and other franchise stocks,
which would naturally suffer most di
rectly from the election of a radical
governor at Albany, waa no weaker
than the rest of the list. The stiffness
of call money, which ruled above 7 per
cent during the forenoon, was an Im
portant factor In trading before the
noon hour and Increased In the after
noon session.
. The Block market all through tho first
hour was feverish nnd nneettled. early ad-
vencee being followed by .harp declines
canned by uneaslacea over the money situa
tion. As a rule all traders who hod car
ried stocks orsr night, sold as onlckly
possible this morning. Bending was nanln
the most settee atoek, advancing to 15,»i
bonds Irregular.
