Chattanooga, Tenn., ’Sept. 26.—Dur
ing the reunion of the Society of the
Army of the Cumberland, which will
be held here October 17 and 18, several
regimental organizations will hold their
reunion also. Among these will be the
Eighth and Seventeenth Ohio regi
ments and the Tenth Ohio cavalry,
which have reserved accommodations
for 600 soldiers. They, will come here
In n special train. It is expected that
at least 5,000 veterans will be in at
tendance during the combined reun
ions.

has decided a case concerning fees for
Latlmore & Hudson, of this city, and
Bale A Shaw, of LaFayette, In the case
of J. W. Roberts, the former aldermai
of this city who Is seivlng a life sen
tence In the Georgia penitentiary- for
wife murder. Roberts' attorneys
charged him a fee of $2,00, and Payne
charged him a fee of $2,000, and Payne
deed of trust proceedings secured by
Roberts’ attorneys or the ground of In
sanity and they were sustained. As a
results Roberts’ attorney got $900 be
sides a fee of $2fy), which was paid In
cash.

Negroes for Offices.

Savannah, Ga., Sept. 26.—yesterday
the county Republican committee met
and decided to put a ticket In the field
for county offices. A Republican will
be nominated for congress, though the
committee knows there Is no chance to
win. Chairman J. C. Simmons says
there are some negroes registered,
however, and they ought to have a
chance to vote. All the nominees are
negroes. Monday night a negro mass
meeting will be held to ratify the nom
(nations.
Building Cars for Panama.

factory In this city Is now running
day and night, and turning out from
six to ten completed cars per day. AH
the cars for the United States govern
ment, to be sent ta Panama, are to

number of express shipments of rllles,
pistols and ammunition were made
from Columbus to parties In Atlanta
yesterday. There was such a drain
upon the local hardware stores that
some of them have telegraphed for

Building Good Roads.

Waycross, Ga., Sept. 26.—The Ware
county commissioners have divided
theJr good roads forces Into two gangs,
and the work 'of putting the Ware
county public roads Into first class
shape Is being carried on In two sec
tions of the county. Convict labor Is
used on both gangs, and with the aid
of the traction engine and Improved
good road machinery, 2 or 3 miles are
straightened, turnplker and graded
each day.
New Park Site Bought.
Waycross, Ga., Sept. 26.—The city
has recently purchased ground, for a
park from Dr. Folks, on Elizabeth
street, and now Hon. W. M. Toomer
and Dr. B. H. Williams have both of
fered free of charge to the city bodies
of land on which It is proposed to es
tablish a park. With the numerous
little squares and triangular parks In
the city it Is not likely that Waycross
people will suffer for the want of fresh
air in the future.

dred'dollars was the penalty imposed
by Judge Charles Crisp In the city
court upon Joel Bros., Hebrews, who
came here recently from Jacksonville,
and established a clothing store. The
charge against them was selling sec-

satisfaction in the general offices of
the Central railway agency here has
caused the entire force of more than
50 clerks to enter a united effort to se
cure a raise of 10 per cent- throughout
the clerical work, and a communication
signed by all but one man has been
sent to Superintendent J. H. Hall, of
Macon division.
Ku Klux Regalia Seized.

Augusta, Ga., Sept. 26.—The police
authorities today discovered a secret
organization of Ku Klux In Augusta
and broke It up. Detectives found In a
local Job printing office literature pri
vately printed for the organization, and
on further investigation found that a
local tailoring establishment had made
gowns and other regalia for the band.
The literature and gowns were confis
cated, the former being destroyed.
