THE ATLANTA GEORGIAN,
/
APPLICATIONS FOR SALOON LICENSES.
The Georgian has accepted these advertisements and prints them because the City Council,
under ordinance, directs that they appear in all daily papers, and we believe it best that all
should know who the applicants for license are and where they propose to conduct saloons.
We can not consistently accept pay for them, and they are printed gratis. We feel that this
explanation is due the public.

In Darktown, Recorder Broyles took
occasion highly to commend Jim

and testifying against members of his
race in the face of threats against his

When Woods awoke Friday morning

“Jim M’oods: If you go to court this

There was no signature to the card.
Notwithstanding the threat, Woods ap

of the disorder himself, but had fur

of negroes alleged to have taken part.
The names had been given to Woods
by another negro, who said he waa
afraid to furnish them to the police,
fearing the wrath of the negroes.
“I told him." said Woods, "to give me
the names and I would turn them over
to the police, that I wanted to help
preserve order, and that I was not
afraid of the whole gang.”

The other negro, who conducts a bar
