Heavy realizing was a feature and room traders were large Hellers for n reaction. The ca bles were decidedly disappointing. The market rallied ten point* after the openlug. The market for futures In Liverpool opened and closed barely steady. First prlcei were a decided disappointment to the bulls, being Irregular at declines of some 3 points. To respond to New York’s advance yesterday, October should have started the session 91-2 points higher, while the later positions were due to come 6 to 61-2 points up. At the close the near months were un changed and late months 1-2 to 2 points higher. Spot prices were quiet but firm at 17 points advance on sales of 5,000 bales. On the discouraging Liverpool ad vices New York opened 1 to 22 points lower, and continued to decline throughout the entire session. There was nothing in the domestic news to which could be attributed cause for weakness. General showers were reported throughout the cotton belt, with unconfirmed rumors of light frost at Abilene, Tex. Fair weather, however, is predicted for the eastern belt for tonight and Sunday, which to gether with the usual evening-up over the Sunday Interval in liberal realis ing profits and the resultant decline. The slump is what Is called by the trade ”a natural reaction,” which, the bulls claim, will be quickly recovered. The chse in New York was 28 to 44 points lower. We would call attention to the light stocks not only here but at all point* In comparison with last year, that Is n most bullish feature, while we believe that future demands will be greater not only for home consumption but for export. Jt Is hnrdly worth while to wait for reac tions to buy on; In fact, we would favor In vestment purchases nt the market, as well ns on a scale down.
