Again there wa* an entire nbaence of any hurry to sell, but again at thi same time the great ma jority of th*> active stocks were freely supplied whenever bids for them were raised. Only in one or two directions did operators for the advance make any lundway. American Smelter* con tinued to be pushed ahead on the large transaction* with a *tory of n coining stock dividend providing the Incentive. The National Lead share* were aympa- theth ally strong, nnd th r»* was some fairly active buying for a while In Lo* comotive, CVir Foundry and other so- called equipment stocks. Among the railroad share* the most effective buy ing converged upon Pennsylvania and New York Central; the former being Influenced by the report that the divi dend would be raised from 6 to 7 per cent.
