Gallord Plngree, a practicing physician in Chicago for more than thirty years, and n cousin of former Governor Haien Plngree, of Michigan, committed suicide last night at his home In this city by locking himself in a bath room and turning on the gaa. On Saturday night while the people were engaged In wor ship some one drove the horse and buggy of Eugene Littlejohn, who Uvea near Chlckamauga, from the church yard. The horse la a valuable one. Suspicion fell on Ulyaaea Pratt, a young man who Uvea In thla communi ty., At a commitment trial held by Justice Slmmona, the young man was bound In the aum of 3200 for hie ap pearance ■ at the February term or Walker superior court. Two other young men were tried on suspicion also, but were dismissed at the trial. SUPREME COURT"OF GEORGIA. Paris, Oct. 15.—It ‘ was learned to day that If Count Bont do Castellano wishes to resume his seat In the cham ber of deputies he must fight for It. The minister of the Interior has re ceived a petition from the Republicans of the district Count Bonl represents, demanding, that his election be an nulled. He was formally elected, but the courts disow ned It because of fraud. It Is asserted that great frauds were practiced In the secon^ election. DYNAMITE BLAST KILLSTHREE MEN Workmen Meet Their Death While Thawing Out Some Frozen Explosive. Roanoke. Va., Oct. 16.—Three men employed at the rock quarry of the Roanoke Stone and Lime Company, at Frlngers switch, near here, were killed today by the premature explosion of quantity of dynamite. The dead are: JOHN T. PURCELL, Roanoke, white, aged 29, unmarried. WILLIAM LUTHER SWITZER, LI thla, Va., white, aged 25, unmarried. MELVIN POLLARD, Llthla, Va., ne. gro. The men were thawing a lot of dyna mite In front of a fire built on top of the ground, and It Is believed one of them kicked a stick of dynamite In ths fire, causing the explosion. GASOLINEEXPLOSION THREATENS LIVES Chicago, Oct. 16.—Gasoline stored In Clarendon garage, on Clarendon ave nue, exploded late last night and caused a Are, which damaged property to the extent of 356,000. PEACHTREE PAVING SETTLED PINALLYi TO DEM ONC Council Forced to Turn Down Bitulithic Because of Lack of Labor. It Is expected that before November work will have been begun on the repaving of Peachtreet street with as phalt. The bid of the Asphalt Paving Com pany of Georgia was unanimously ac cepted by the city council Monday, providing It Is decided to have the work done. The council thought had already done this, but It hadn' The law requires that, the assessment against the property owners of the street to be paved be advertised for ten days before the work Is provided for. City Attorney Mayson held that would be all right to accept the bid subject to the decision of the council to do the work, after advertising Its Intentions. This Is only a technical point, but It d. 1'iys the work two weeks. Councilman Roberts, who voted for bitulithic in the committee, explained that he would vote for asphalt, not because he had changed hie opinion and thought It was better than bitu lithic, but he said that when hie vote on the matter won published a few days ago,- people on the eouth side did not stop disagreeing with him over the telephone until he stopped answering. He said he believed that people who had to use a street most should aa what It should be paved with, am. therefore, moved that the report of the committee In favor of asphalt be ac bitulithic people will not mako any fight before the oldermanlc board, which meets Thursday. VILL DECIDE FATE OF RAWLINS BOYS ON TUESDAY, OCT 23 For ‘the special purpose of deciding the fate of Milton and Jeese Rawlins the prison commission will meet again Tuesday, October 22. Tho plea for commutation of the sentences to life Imprisonment was ar gued by Attorney, Cooper and Judge Oscar Smith last Saturday. Unless ths commission consents to Intervene the two boys will hang In Valdosta on November 2. A diapatcb from Washington states that the United States supreme court has sat October 23 for hearing the ap- E al for a new trial In the case of J. O. iwllna, father of the two boys, under sentence of death. The appeal to the highest court was made on the ground that ministers were excluded from the Jury box. Raw- line was a preacher. GIRL WARNS FAMILY OF MENACING FIRE Morgantown, Md., Oct. 16.—"Oak Hall,” the summer home of ex-Oov- emor A. B. Fleming, was totally de- atroyed by fire at S o'clock tbie morn ing. The property was located at the highest point In the Alleghanles, near Terra Alta, and waa valued at 310,000. The fire was discovered by 3fl» Vir ginia Fleming In time to permit the escape of all the family, but all their clothes and personal belongings were burned. Preparations For . Largest fleeting of That Sect Ever in South. The third annual convention of the Holiness Union will be held In Atlanta October 23-28. Preparations are now on foot for the entertatnnfent of the many visitors who will come to the city to attend this convention. It Is anticipated that this will be the biggest meeting of the Holiness Union ever held In the South. comprehensive program has been arranged by Charlie D. Tillman, of At lanta, who has the convention prepar ations In charge. Among the noted speakers who will be heard are: H. C. Morrison, Bud Robinson, Will Huff, B. VV. Huckabee. All the meetings will be held In the Baptist Tabernacle, In Luekle street. The convention will open with a ser mon at 8 o'clock on the nlQht of Oc tober 23. Beginning Wednesday, the delegates will get down to real busl ness. Services will be held from o'clock In the morning, off and on, until 11 o’clock at night. The con vention will continue through Sunday, October 28, a sermon at S o’clock Sun- dny night being the last thing on the program. The exercises will consist mainly of sermons by noted ministers, discus sions of timely religious topics, read ings of papers on scheduled subjects, song services, and open air meetings. The prospects are for a most suc cessful convention. Four Horses Burn In Barn. Special to The Georgian. Lafayette, Ga., Oct. 16.—Fire at 1 o’clock this morning destroyed R. L. Chicago, Oct. 16.—Angered by being discharged from the employ of tho drainage canal, Antonio Asfronta, on Italian laborer, shot and killed W. A. Cheney, a foreman on the works, near Loekport. Cheney was married and lived In Loekport, III., with his wife and three children. The murderer at tempted to escape, but was seised by Marshal Edward Cohen and several employees of the district and taken In a buggy to jail.
