Chippendale, Sheriton, Heplewhite
“* » * '
A little furniture history will not be out of place with these furniture pictures—the repro
duction of a Heplewhite diningroom suit in beautifully marked San Domingo mahogany.
But to go back a century. There was Chippendale, who designed those rare'things in
straight, comfortable lines, not unlike the suits shown here. Plain or with the hairlines of inlaid
white holly. Then came the Sheri tons, who used the same design, but added the little inlaid
fan-shape ornaments in the corner. Then Heplewhite, who added the festoons and drapery
effects in the center of the, panels.
This suit we picture here is an exact and beautiful reproduction of a Heplewhite. If we
could “age it” in- some magic way the price would be in the thousands; but we cannot carry
sentiment into the price. The suit, as pictured here, consisting of sideboard, table, china closet,
six side chairs and two arm-chairs, done in leather, all San Domingo mahogany with white holfy
inlay and chairs done in leather
