In pur suance of this policy Attorney General Moody instructed District Attorney H. I. Devlin to lend his aid to Attorneys R. M. Ficert and Masujl Allydkawo, representing the Japanese community, In injunction proceedings that have been brought in the circuit court to comiwl the hoard of education to allow the subjects of the mikado to attend the schools of the city. The school department of the city refuses to make any concessions to the Japanese, and President Altman, of the school board, has plainly informed Sec retary Metcalf that he* would obey the state law to the letter. This law re quires separate schools. It was stated by attorneys that from no\v on the Japanese nil! make no ef fort to oppose exclusion through court proceedings, but they will stand firmly on their treaty rights and contend that the Washington government must put children back In schools from which they have been barred by the board of education. It was learned at the police stutlon Saturday morning that the police have unearthed a clew that may soon bring developments (n the case of the little baby girl, deserted by her parents and found Thursday night in the weeds In vacant lot at DeKalb avenue and Delta street, Inman Park. Policeman Cooglftr, who has been de tailed on the case, Is working on the clew (u an effort to bring to Justice the persons who so cruelly abandoned the child. The nature of the clew lias not been divulged, but It is regarded ns strong and one which may soon dissi pate the mystery of the unknown child.
