MOULTRIE PEOPLE BRUNSWICK LINE
TO HAVE LOWER
FREIGHT RATES
Moultrie la to get a very appreciable
I reduction In' freight rates. Thursday
afternoon, after heaijng the petition of
the people of Moultrie through Attor
ney Kline, the railroad commission Is
sued an order giving that place the
same freight rates enjoyed by Thom-
asvllle, Quitman and other points In
that section.
The railroads were represented only
by formal petition against the rates.
Recently the commission granted Bos
ton. In Thomas county, the same rates
os Thomasvllle, but It Is believed the
roads will light the proposition before
making the rates effective.
Shortage of cars for cotton ship
ments hss been complained of all over
the state, and at Thursday's session
the commission directed that ten cars
a day be furnished to Fayetteville for
live days, and five cars for five suc
cessive days at Woolsy. The railroads
complain t|uit they are doing all In
their power, but that shortage in
equipment causes the trouble.
A delegation of Elberton cltlsens,
compoeed of Charles Park, W. B.
Adams, J. O. Swift, T. O. Tabor, Z. T.
Copeland. W. C. Arnold and Editor
■kelton, appeared before the commis
sion to appeal for better depot facili
ties. The commleelon has directed the
Seaboard and Southern to submit
plans for new depots.
