San Juan. P. R, Nov. 22.—Presi
dent Roosevelt was accorded an ova
tion surpassing anything ever seen in
Porto Rico at the reception today in
his honor at the gubernatorial man
sion. Both In point of numbers of the
guests and the enthusiasm manifested
the reception was a record-breaker.
Many persons were uhable to reach
the president to shake his hand.
An incident was the meeting of Pres
ident Roosevelt and E. G. Morton, who
fought by his side at Santiago de Cuba,
and was one of the first five to ascend
the hill.
President Roosevelt's return to the
United States will be delayed some
V'hat. The roughness of the sea out
side San Juan makes it impossible for
him to board the Loulsana there, and
he will return to Ponce to embark.
Making the 80-niile trip over the
famous military road from Ponce to
San Juan In six hours and three min
