afternoon at her apartments on Baker

The largest event of Friday was the

Wheeler and Mrs. Virgil Perryman en
tertained several hundred of their
friends.
•Mr«. Wheeler's home on West Peach,
tree, at which the reception was held
was artistic In Its decorations of palms,
terns and potted plants, with great
v.-ixea of pink and white roBes adding
frattrancc ami beauty. The house was
lighted by numerous candelabra hold
ing white un-haded candles.
In the library, where punch and cof
fee were served, the decorations were of
ferns, xmllax and white roses.
Here Mrs. Hltns Ilray and Mrs. Wes
ley Taylor presided over the coffee urn.
and Misses Jennie Mobley and Minnie
McIntyre served punch. The punch

gropes and with nutumn foliage.
The dining room, where delicious lee
anil salad courses were served, was
decorated with pink roses and lighted

ed afforded much merriment. Tin*
prise for the largest number of correct
guesses was a copy of the attractive
story, "Lavender and Old Iatce," and
the curds on which the guesses were

ture, being hand-painted 111 design* of
little lavender bags, and • having at
tached to them tiny lavender pencil*.
There were present the thirteen mem
bers of the club.

St. Paul, Minn., Nov. 23.—Miss Ger
trude 1IIII, youngest daughter of James
Hill, the ritllwuy magnate, was mar
ried to Mr. Michael Uuvln, a young at
torney of New York, today. The cer
emony was performed this morning in
St. Mary's church and was largely at
tended by relatives and friends of the
families.
DEBUT RECEPTION AND DANCE.
Thursday evening at Segadlo'* Hall
Mr. and Mr*. Charles D. Meador gave a
beautiful dancing party, Introducing
their lovely young daughter, Miss Jullu
Meador.
A large number of the dancing con
tingent was present, which Included
several charming belle* from other
state* now visiting friend* In Atlanta.
Segadlo'* Hall was profusely decorated
with bamboo, palms, fern* and quanti
ties of hundsome yellow chrysanthe
mums. Spray* of bumhoo encircled the
mirror*, and chrysanthemums were
pieced effectively In tall vuses through
out the apartment.
Punch wa* served In a room prettily
decorated in crimson tint*, the lights |
softened with red shades, and crimson
cut flower* adding to the artistic ef
fect.
Wurmn’s orchestra rendered at
tractive musical selections.
Mrs. Charles Meador wore a hand-;
some gown of tan crepe de chine, em
broidered In tan and blue.
Miss Meador was gowned In white
net over white taffeta, trimmed with
white satin bands and lace, embrold
ored In pearls. Her corsage bouquet
was of Parma violets, and she carried
a large bunch of American beauty
roses. Many bouquets arranged near
the pretty debutante evidenced the ad
miring .Interest of her friends.
Mrs. T. D. Meador wore a stylish tol
let of white silk mousseline Qver yel
low. embroidered In brilliants, and
trimmed with point lace.

of cream lace over creajn' taffeta.
Mts* Butt, of Cdlumbus. wore pink
radium silk, lace trimmed, and em
broidered In pink and blue.
Miss Blankenship, of Columbus, was
gowned In white radium silk, made
prlncesse, with baby Irish lace.
Miss Penn, of North Carolina, wore
costume of white net, face trimmed,
Miss Louise Cobb, of Anniston. Ala.,
was gowned In pink messallnc silk.
Miss Land, of Kentucky, wore a toilet
of white net, made prlncesse.
Miss Emma Williams, of Virginia,
was gowned in white lace over,white
silk.
Refreshments were served during the
evening.
ATLANTA CHAPTER, U. D. C.
A large meeting of the Atlanta chap
ter of the Daughters of the Confeder
acy was held Thursday afternoon at
the club rooms at the Grand. After
the transaction of routine business
speeches of unusual Interest were made
by Mrs. S. E. Gabbett, Miss Alice Bax
ter and other women prominent in the
organization. Mrs. S. D. Ellis, presi
dent of the chapter, presided.

terday afternoon when a telephone
message came from Americu* announc
ing that Miss Afary Richardson, one of
Lumpkin’s most popular young ladles,
would be married this evening to Mr.
Eugene Harvey, of Buena Vista, Ga.
Miss Richardson went over to Amer
icas Wednesday afternoon to witness
the performance of Thomas Dixon’s
play, "The One Woman,” and met Mr.
Harvey. Arrangements were then made
to have the ceremony performed yes
terday evening at the residence of Mr.
and Mrs. G. R. Ellis, friends of the
bride, with whom she was stopping.
Miss Richardson is the daughter and
only child of Mr! J. D. Richardson, a
prominent merchant and planter qf this
place, and has been a social favorite
since her coming out a season or two
ago. Mr. Harvey Is a rising young
merchant of Buenu Vista, where he
will take his bride.
