In which one of the biggest Illicit distilleries ever cap tured waa destroyed. and ■ an Informer, who had been working wlththe officers In that section for some time, waa placed under arrest. It waa discovered that while It had bean practically an easy matter to lo cate the places where whisky was being made without the permission of the federal authorities, a number'Of dis tilleries had been "protected” by those who had been Informing on compet itors. The Illicit whisky trade in that section flourished under the unusual order of things. One.of the men arrested, whose name the officers refuse to divulge, was caught "black-handed,’’ so to. speak. He was asleep In a still captured near Cor nelia several days ago. When'* he was awakened the officers recognized him as a man wine had been leading them to the distilleries operated by compet itor*. While having hi* competitors put out of business and haled before the court, he Imd been assuring his own pals that the "revenues" would not bother them, nnd always steered them In other direc tion*.
