sion was characterized by elegance and

with which was worn a corsage bou-

Mrs. Joseph M. Terrell was gowned
In white radium silk, elaborately fash
ioned with lace.
Mrs. W. H. Wltham Wore a beautiful
gown of white embroidered silk, Its
niinlmngs of chiffon and tiny rhine
stone buckles, and her guest, Mr*.

gray volte.
Mr*. Alfred Truitt's pretty gown was

white silk mull, trimmed with luce and

Mrs. Howard Callaway was hand
some In a toilet of blue voile, made
over blue silk, and trimmed with em
broidery.
Mrs. R. T. Dorsey was much admired

In the parlor, where the ceremony took
place, palm* and fern* were banked
so as.to form an Improvised altar. In
the music room, where punch was
served, the same decorations of green
and white were effectively employed.
Punch was served by Miss Frances
Walker and Miss Iris Dobbs, of Wood-
stock.
A beautiful musical program was
rendered by Miss Rosalee Elliott and
Ml*s Anna Castles. "O Promise Me”
was sung by Miss Jessie Parkins just
before the entrance of the bridal party.
The strain* of iloRengrln's wedding
march announced the coming of" the
bridal party. Ml** Hu rah E. Brady
came nr*t, followed by Mr. Allen J
Young. Then came Miss Isabel Par
kins, followed by the groom and hi*
best man, Mr. Andrew Plowden, of
Valdosta. The bride entered with her
matron of honor, Mrs. Floyd Vickery.
During the ceremony Miss Anna Can-
ties played softly "Meditation” on the
violin accompanied on the piano by
Miss Rosalie Elliott.
The bride, who Is a pretty blonde,
wore a becoming suit of blue broad
cloth with hat and gloves to mutch; She
carried a bouquet of brides rose* tied
with a bow of white tulle. The*brides
maid* wore dainty frock* of white
chiffon cloth elaborately trimmed In
lace with pink satin girdles, pink
glove* and pink slippers. They carried
bouquets of pink roses, tied with pink
tulle. The matron of honor wore a
white toilette and carried a bouquet
of golden gate rose* tied with green
tulle.
Delicious refreshments carrying out
the color scheme of pink and white
were served during the evening.
When the bride threw her bouquet It
was caught by Miss Sarah Brady.
Mr. anil Mrs. Plowden left at 9
o’clock for Valdosta, where they will
tnalfe their home.

Miss Ivey was a charming hostess

ribbon and pencil and upon the card
was written “The Hidden Capitals.”
When each card was handed'In It was
found that Miss Allle Candler was win
ner of the first prize, a beautiful box of
candy, and the booby fell to Mr. George
Bjell, a China doll in a tub.

served bonbons and salted almonds

dinning room, where a delicious salad
luncheon was served from a table

Miss Martha Whitman, of Atlanta,
left Nashville Saturday for Chatta
nooga to visit Iter grandmother, Mrs.
C. L. Hutcheson, for ten days before
returning home. Miss Whitman and
Miss Blanche Carson, who returned to
Atlanta Thursday, were given numer
ous complimentary affairs during their
left to Miss Ellse Lipscomb, at Nash- |
vllle. Miss Whitman was the honotve j
of a box party to see the Vanderbllt-
Sewanee gam** Thanksgiving day; that I

Club, and Friday she was one of the
visiting belles at the dance given by the [

Miss Antoinette .Blount is another
Atlanta belle who Is being much ad
mired in Nashville Just now, as the
guest of Miss Kitty Stubblefield, one of
the most popular debutantes of the
year, and whom she will visit for an
other week. Friday they were guests
nt Miss Sammie Keith’s breakfast for
Mis* Sarah Berry and attended the
dance at the Duncan Friday night.
They w*ere given a box party to the
Thanksgiving game.
Later In the evening the scene of
festivities changed to Rugby hall,
where elegant refreshments were
served, and where the only formal cer
emony of the evening, the conferring
of commissions and sabers to the ca
det officers, occurred. The ceremony
was Impressive and the cadets, stand
ing at attention before the assembled
guests, made quite an imposing sight.
Dr. Matheson, In a few words, ad
dressed the cadets, after which the
conimlHslons were delivered by Colone!
Woodward and Colonel West.
The decorations in the parlor of
Rugby were chiefly in green, but the
halls and assembly room were profuse
ly adorned with American flags and
with the school colors, red and white.
Mrs. Woodward wore black lace over
white silk. Mrs. Hodgson’s gown was
of blue velvet and chiffon, and Mrs.
Crussette wore a dress of -soft white
wool.
THANK6GIVING~DAY AT
OLD WOMEN’S HOME.'
Thanksgiving day was duly and ap
propriately observed at the Ifome for
Old Women. Many of the good people
of our city remembered the old ladles
apd gifts poured in until pantries were
rowdjd.
The table was very Inviting with Its
white linen and beautiful flowers,
thoughtfully seqt by some lover of
beauty, and round It gathered the fif
teen old ladles of the home, who thor
oughly enjoyed the gobd. things set be
fore them. The menu was as follows:
Roast turkey, cranberry sauce, cel
ery, potato salad, candled'sweet pota
toes, stewed corn, whipped cream with
maraschino cherries, angel cake, fruit,
nuts, coffee.
Many friends called during the after
noon and were entertained by the old
ladles. •

ROBERTS-POPE.
The marriage of Mr. William W.
Roberts and MIhh Alma Pope took
place Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock
at the home of Mrs. Laura J. Pope,
on West Peachtree street. The cere
mony was performed by Rev. M. I.
Troutman in the presence of the Im
mediate family and a few Intimate
friends. The drawing room, where the
ceremony was performed, was deco
rated with palms and ferns and nar
cissus.
Miss Bessie Pope and Mr. Charles
M. Roberts were the only attendants.
The bride wore a traveling suit of
brown cloth. The .stylish coat, which
was trimmed with velvet and a touch
of green silk, was worn over a lace
waist. With this suit she wore a toque
of brown, trimmed wdth yellow roses.
Her bouquet was of white roses, tied
with green tulle.
Miss Bessie Pope wore a suit of
white cloth and carried a bouquet of
white chrysanthemums.
Mrs. Pope, the bride’s mother, w’ore a
toilet of black lace over taffeta.
After the ceremony a buffet luncheon
was served. The dining room was In
white and yellow, the centerpiece on
the table, which was covered with ciu-
ny lace, being a vase filled with yellow
and white chrysanthemums.
Miss Susie May Pope and Miss
Rushie Ray served coffee. Mrs. M. R.
C. Smith and Mrs. E. M. Pierce assist
ed their mother in the entertainment of
the guests.

and lace. Miss Ray wore pale blue
