council of Norton, Va., baa sold the
waterworks of that town to tha Vir
ginia Coal and Iron Company, of Stone-
go. Va The price paid for the prop
erty waa 345,000. This property was

Five Are Locked Up After
Being Carried Before
Injured Messenger.
Palestine. Texas, Dec. X.—The Pa
cific express car was robbed' by • six
men. It has been learned.
They bound tho express messenger
nnd threw him out of the rapidly-
moving train at Eylan Hiding, near
Redwater, last Saturday night. On en
tering the express car when' nearing
Texarkana. Conductor Blair found the
car vacant, the sate ransacked, and
tho messenger's helper missing. Reach
ing Texarkana, tt ts said, the train
neyaboy disappeared.
Of Iho flvo men now under arrest two
of them were taken In custody at Cam
den. who. It Is said, were Identified by
Messenger (Irlesct when tukeu before
him at the compuny hospital Tuesday
evening. Two other men, one of whom
